Ripple Mint is a platform Ripple launched on July 23, 2026, that lets institutions mint, redeem, and manage its regulated stablecoin, RLUSD, through either a web interface or an API. It gives exchanges, payment providers, fintech firms, market makers, and enterprise customers a way to mint, redeem, bridge, and monitor RLUSD through either a web console or direct API integrations.

Before this launch, institutions relied mainly on a dashboard-style platform, which worked for occasional use but did not fit banks or exchanges that need to move money on a schedule without a person clicking through every step.

What Does Ripple Mint Actually Do?

The platform gives institutions two ways to work with RLUSD, and they can mix both depending on their needs.

  • Web interface access: for manual oversight, useful for teams that want a visual dashboard.
  • Programmatic access: for automation, letting institutions plug RLUSD directly into their own software through APIs and webhooks.

Core Capabilities

With Ripple Mint, institutions can mint and redeem RLUSD directly, bridge it across supported blockchains, query transaction status and account balances, and receive real-time webhook alerts covering fiat receipt, mint processing, onchain settlement, and payout completion. Every stage of a transaction carries the same reference ID, so a treasury team can trace one trail instead of manually matching a bank statement against a block explorer.

Why Did Ripple Build a Separate Access Platform?

RLUSD is issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, LLC, a trust company chartered by the New York Department of Financial Services. That regulatory structure gives institutions the oversight and transparency they need, but oversight alone does not solve operational friction.

As stablecoins move deeper into trading, payments, and treasury work, manual dashboards become a bottleneck. Ripple Mint addresses that bottleneck directly by opening up automation without removing the manual option for smaller or less frequent users.

How Does RLUSD Compare to USDC Right Now?

RLUSD's market cap sits at roughly $1.5 billion, a fraction of USDC's supply of around $73 billion. Circle has offered institutions equivalent API-based access through Circle Mint for years, and in July 2026 Standard Chartered became the first major global bank letting clients mint and redeem USDC without holding a Circle account.

USDC also turns over its full supply more often and carries a much larger share of monthly stablecoin transaction volume. Ripple Mint narrows the access gap between the two, but it is currently available only to existing RLUSD customers, so it strengthens usage among current clients rather than pulling in new ones.

Recent RLUSD Activity

A July 24 market snapshot placed monthly transfer volume near $10.95 billion, down about 25% from $14.6 billion, while holder numbers rose 6% and active addresses increased 70%, even as overall market value slipped slightly. That pattern points to wider participation with less total value moving per transaction.

What Does the Notabene Investment Add?

Alongside Ripple Mint, Ripple made a strategic investment in Notabene, a compliance network connecting more than 2,300 institutions across over 100 jurisdictions with more than $2 trillion in annualized volume.

RLUSD is going into Notabene Flow, the company's business payments platform for pull payments, recurring payments, and invoicing. Ripple's SVP of stablecoin, Jack McDonald, said institutional adoption depends on more than settlement speed alone, tying the two announcements together as separate fixes for separate obstacles.

Is XRP Also Benefiting From RLUSD's Growth?

Not directly. XRP Ledger fee burns tied to network activity have removed only a very small share of XRP's total supply over its history, so RLUSD's expansion benefits Ripple's stablecoin business more than it moves XRP itself.

As of July 24, 2026, XRP trades in the $1.10 to $1.14 range, with traders watching resistance near $1.16 to $1.18 and support closer to $1.00. RLUSD's multichain rollout to the XRPL EVM Sidechain, Base, Optimism, Ink, and Unichain supports the XRP Ledger narrative, but XRP price still moves mainly on ETF flows and broader rate expectations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Ripple Mint used for? It lets institutions mint, redeem, bridge, and track RLUSD through a web console or API instead of a manual, dashboard-only process.

Who can use Ripple Mint? It is available to existing RLUSD institutional customers, including exchanges, market makers, fintechs, and payment providers.

Does Ripple Mint affect the XRP token directly? Not directly. It expands how institutions handle RLUSD; XRP's price still depends mainly on separate factors like ETF flows and regulation.

Conclusion

Ripple Mint gives institutions programmatic and manual access to mint, redeem, bridge, and track RLUSD, backed by real-time webhooks and shared reference IDs across each transaction stage. Combined with the Notabene investment and multichain expansion, it strengthens RLUSD's infrastructure for existing customers, even as RLUSD's overall scale remains far smaller than USDC's.
