PancakeSwap has made big moves, enhancing trader security with expanded MEV Guard wallet support and offering Coinbase One members some major CAKE airdrops
PancakeSwap has announced it has upgraded its MEV Guard feature on BNB Chain to work with even more popular crypto wallets. The update now includes support for Binance Wallet, Trust Wallet, OKX Wallet, and Rabby Wallet. The expansion helps more traders protect their transactions from harmful MEV attacks.
MEV Guard, developed by 48 Club, shields users from frontrunning and sandwich attacks that can cause price manipulation and trade failures. These attacks have been a major problem for DeFi traders, often resulting in higher slippage, poor trade execution, or direct financial losses.
MEV (Maximal Extractable Value) refers to profits that can be extracted from blockchain users by controlling transaction order. These attacks include frontrunning and sandwich attacks, where bots or specialized traders see pending transactions and insert their own transactions before and after to profit at users' expense. This often leaves regular traders with worse prices or failed trades. PancakeSwap's MEV Guard acts as a shield against these harmful practices.
The expanded MEV Guard offers several important benefits to PancakeSwap users:
"MEV Guard helps us tackle a major challenge in DeFi trading, making it easier and safer for our users to trade on the BNB Chain with greater peace of mind," said Chef Kids, Head of PancakeSwap.
Enabling protection is straightforward for most users. Binance Wallet and Trust Wallet users enjoy automatic protection when connecting to PancakeSwap. For other supported wallets, users can enable MEV Guard through either the swap page or the dedicated MEV Guard page with just a few clicks.
In a separate announcement, PancakeSwap revealed a new partnership with Coinbase. The collaboration will provide Coinbase One members with exclusive bi-weekly CAKE token airdrops, each round worth $8,453.
From March 3 to May 26, 2025, verified Coinbase One members can earn CAKE tokens by trading on PancakeSwap. Coinbase One, a membership program offering features like zero-fee trading and priority support, now includes these PancakeSwap rewards as part of its platform benefits. The program requires members to verify their wallet and complete at least $100 in trading volume during each two-week period. Trading can occur on Base, BNB Chain, or Arbitrum.
The $8,453 in CAKE tokens are distributed six times according to this schedule:
Each trader's share depends on their trading volume compared to all participants. The formula (User's Trading Volume divided by Total Volume, multiplied by $8,453) determines the exact amount. PancakeSwap sends rewards to verified wallets within two weeks after each period ends.
These exciting announcements showcase how PancakeSwap is taking bold steps to protect traders and reward loyal users in the competitive DeFi landscape.
PancakeSwap continues to demonstrate strong momentum in the decentralized exchange market. The platform recorded an impressive $310 billion in trading volume throughout 2024 across all supported chains, with Base Chain contributing $11.6 billion to this total. This growth reflects increasing user adoption and trading activity across PancakeSwap's multi-chain eco-system.
The expanded MEV Guard and new Coinbase One rewards program come at a time when protection from front-running and other MEV-related attacks has become increasingly important for traders seeking fair execution prices.
