LayerEdge Mainnet Getting Closer: TGE Next?

LayerEdge, a Bitcoin layer-2 solution focused on trust-minimized settlement, is nearing its highly anticipated mainnet launch following the successful completion of its Proof of Humanity (PoH) initiative. Level 1 verification, which required KYC through platforms like Binance, Bybit, or Coinbase, was sufficient for participation, while higher levels remained optional. 

Partnered with zkPass, Primus Labs, and Human.tech, the protocol leveraged zkTLS technology to prioritize user privacy. The base verification cost was a minimal $0.12, making it accessible to a broad audience, though some users reported website congestion due to high participation.

Testnet Success and Cost Savings

LayerEdge’s testnet phase has also demonstrated impressive results, as detailed in Bitcoin Ecosystem’s graphic. The testnet processed 589,565 proofs from various blockchains, consolidating them into 58,958 batched proofs on private Bitcoin Signet blocks. This aggregation resulted in potential gas savings of $4,940,327 USD, showcasing LayerEdge’s ability to reduce verification costs by up to 99%. 

With 32 ecosystem partners already on board, the project is gaining traction as a scalable solution for Bitcoin-backed decentralized systems. The incentivized testnet, which ran its Season 2 program until March 22, 2025, allowed users to earn EDGE points by running light nodes, verifying proofs, and completing social tasks. These points are expected to play a significant role in the upcoming airdrop, with 9% of the total token supply allocated for distribution, which will be fully unlocked at the TGE.
