After more than three years of development, Floki launched the mainnet release of its highly anticipated metaverse game, Valhalla. This marks a turning point for Floki, evolving from a meme token into a serious player in the blockchain gaming space.

Valhalla: A Blockchain MMORPG Rooted in Norse Mythology

Valhalla is a browser-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) built on blockchain technology. It draws heavily on Norse mythology, featuring tactical, turn-based combat within hexagonal battle arenas. Players explore a vast open world, collect and battle with NFT creatures called Veras, and engage in guild cooperation and resource management.

Unlike traditional games, Valhalla offers players real ownership of their in-game assets through NFTs and a live economy powered by the FLOKI token. The game’s play-to-earn model rewards players for their time and skill, integrating decentralized finance elements without compromising on gameplay quality or community focus.

Pedro Vidal, Floki’s Community Relations Officer, highlighted that Valhalla is designed to address many of the issues that plague the blockchain play-to-earn sector. He emphasized the project’s commitment to building a game that players genuinely want to enjoy.

Star Power and Industry Partnerships Boost Valhalla’s Launch

The launch has already attracted high-profile attention. Hafthor Bjornsson, famous for his role as The Mountain in Game of Thrones and recognized as one of the world’s strongest men, previewed Valhalla on his Twitch channel, giving gamers an early look at the immersive world.

Floki has also partnered with Method, a major name in MMORPG esports, known for its prominence in World of Warcraft competitions. Method will support Valhalla through exclusive content like guides and tips and will feature the game on its official esports jersey through 2025 and 2026. 

This partnership is a strategic move to bring Valhalla to a broad MMO-focused audience, positioning Floki at the forefront of Web3 gaming’s push into mainstream esports.

A Bold Marketing Push for Mass Adoption

Floki has launched a multi-platform marketing campaign that spans traditional and digital media. National television spots on Fox Business, CNBC, and Bloomberg aim to educate millions of households on Valhalla’s gameplay and token utility. This effort seeks to reposition Floki as a serious blockchain gaming brand rather than just a meme coin.

In New York’s Times Square, Valhalla takes center stage with digital ads running 20 times per hour on the Reuters billboard, securing round-the-clock visibility in one of the world’s busiest commercial hubs.

On the esports front, Floki served as the presenting sponsor for the Global Esports Industry Week in June. Here, attendees engaged directly with Valhalla through branded stations and presentations, underscoring the project’s commitment to bridging traditional gaming with Web3.

Floki’s campaign also includes grassroots efforts in football, sponsoring initiatives at Nottingham Forest’s stadium that combine crypto education with community outreach. This reflects the company’s broader strategy to integrate blockchain technology into diverse cultural spaces.

Mobile and Social Media Reach for Global Impact

Understanding the importance of mobile gaming in emerging markets, Floki launched a mobile ad campaign targeting popular games like Candy Crush and Call of Duty: Mobile. These ads focus on regions such as India, Vietnam, Nigeria, and Argentina—areas where crypto adoption is accelerating.

Social media platforms Reddit and Twitch are also key channels for Valhalla’s outreach. With targeted ads and interactive content, Floki aims to generate millions of impressions among crypto enthusiasts and gamers in the U.S., Latin America, and India.

Complementing these efforts are YouTube and programmatic display campaigns that serve tailored ads to blockchain and gaming audiences globally. The combined campaign is expected to deliver over 10 million impressions, building awareness and engagement ahead of Valhalla’s official launch.

Valhalla’s Place in the Rapidly Growing Blockchain Gaming Market

Blockchain gaming has exploded in recent years, with its market value reaching an estimated $7.1 billion in 2024. Experts predict it could surpass $25 billion by 2030. Nearly 40% of blockchain activity now comes from gaming, with over two million daily active wallets involved in the space.

Platforms like Immutable, Polygon, and BNB Chain have become homes for Web3 games, while mainstream gaming studios explore blockchain integration. The sector’s revenue streams—NFT sales, in-game tokens, and digital asset trading—are shifting towards free-to-play models to lower entry barriers and boost adoption.
