Happy DOGust 1st

They say every dog has his day, and for many canines in need of homes that was Aug. 1, when BNB Chain meme project Baby Doge Coin joined forces with one of the world’s largest rescue and adoption charities, North Shore Animal League America, to host a dog-centered birthday party, “DOGust 1st.”

Founded in 1944, Animal League is on a mission to rescue dogs and cats from hunger, abuse and homelessness, and to help them find homes where they can receive care and nurturing.

In 2008, the organization set aside Aug. 1, which they termed DOGust 1st, as the official birthday for rescue dogs, and dogs whose actual birthdays are unknown. To mark this year's DOGust 1st, AnimalLeague reduced by half the August adoption fees for dogs 6 months old and older, while Baby Doge gave grants to the top five dog charities with the most adoptions in the first week of August.

Animal League is at the forefront of animal welfare efforts. More than 1 million dogs and cats have been rescued by Animal League since 2008. Information on the organization's website shows that Animal League, through various initiatives, has vaccinated over 65,000 animals and helps at least 10,000 pets get adopted each year. There's also an Adopt-a-Rescue mobile App that provides a database of animals available for adoption.

As reported on PRNewswire, Animal League entered into a long-term partnership with Baby Doge Coin in December 2021, when the trendy BNB Chain meme project donated $150,000 for a mobile Rescue and Adoption Unit, exclusive merchandise, etc. 

Baby Doge lays claim to being dogs' best friend in crypto. Dog welfare is a core part of Baby Doge Coin's vision. The platform has a dedicated charity wallet that receives a portion of transaction fees. Apart from Animal League, Baby Doge Coin also supports other dog charities and has made notable donations of $100,000 to Best Friends Animal Society and $75,000 to Paws With Cause.

Baby Doge Coin is the acclaimed 'son' of the popular meme token, DOGE. Baby Doge Coin has a hyper-deflationary system that progressively increases its scarcity and increases its liquidity. The project team hopes to ride the momentum of its ‘father’ coin but with faster transactions and enhanced cuteness.

The Baby Doge Coin project looks out for the welfare of dogs and is actively reaching out to dog shelters & organizations that benefit dogs. Helping rescue as many dogs as possible is its goal.
