Shibarium is coming, but not until after the New Year.
One of the lead developers behind Shiba Inu told Crypto Twitter that the launch of the Shibarium layer-2 blockchain is imminent. The latest hint reminds users to enjoy the holidays and prepare for a big 2023.
The developer known as Shytoshi Kusama tweeted to their over 800,000 followers on December 24 that Shibarium is unlikely to arrive before the end of the year due to the holidays. Kusama reassured the Shiba community that the Shibarium is coming “very soon.”
Shibarium is being built as a layer-2 blockchain to grow the scalability of Shiba Inu’s host chain Ethereum. The Shiba team is building Shibarium with custom features for the Shiba ecosystem.
The Shibarium upgrade will be a major development for the Shiba Inu ecosystem and Kusama expects 2023 to be a big year for Shiba and the world.
Shiba Inu is an Ethereum-based altcoin that has the Shiba Inu—a Japanese breed of hunting dog—as its mascot. The SHIB token aspires to be an Ethereum-based alternative to Dogecoin (DOGE). Unlike Bitcoin, which is designed to be scarce, SHIB was created to be intentionally abundant — with a total supply of one quadrillion. The Shiba Inu Token ecosystem supports projects such as an NFT art incubator and the development of a decentralized exchange called Shibaswap.
