The Pi Network 2025 hackathon reached its midpoint on September 19, 2025, with participating teams submitting updates on their progress. Following the submissions, the blockchain protocol released a video showcase on September 27 highlighting select projects to demonstrate early developments in applications designed to integrate with the Pi cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Pi Network 2025 Hackathon: The Story so far

The Pi Hackathon 2025 marks the ecosystem's first major developer event following the launch of the Open Network. The event, which began on August 21, 2025, focuses on creating applications that enhance Pi's utility through real-world use cases. The initiative offers a total prize pool of 160,000 Pi tokens, distributed as follows: 75,000 Pi for first place, 45,000 Pi for second place, 15,000 Pi for third place, and 5,000 Pi each for up to five honorable mentions.

Participants were advised to submit their applications via the Pi Developer Portal, along with a demo video. Furthermore, all team members must pass the Know Your Customer (KYC) check to qualify for awards. The hackathon's open-ended theme encourages development across categories like payments, gaming, and artificial intelligence, provided projects integrate Pi meaningfully, such as through transactions or incentives.

Over 100 applications have been submitted so far, accessible in the Pi Browser under the Mainnet Apps section. The midpoint submissions on September 19 provided teams with an optional checkpoint to share their advancements, although these do not influence the final judging. The YouTube video, uploaded to the PiCoreTeam channel, is a compilation of project demos that primarily serve as community inspiration.

Key Projects Highlighted in the Midpoint Showcase

The midpoint video showcases a selection of projects, highlighting integration with Pi's blockchain for tasks such as payments and content creation. Meanwhile, Pi Network made it clear in the video that the showcase does not influence any team’s chances of winning. Here are some of the top picks from the video:

Starmax: QR Code-Based Loyalty Rewards

For customers, StarMax offers an effortless way to use Pi to purchase goods and services from a wide range of businesses, whether at a discount or for free. Redeeming rewards feels like winning a prize, adding excitement and value to every transaction.

The protocol functions as a loyalty program application where users scan QR codes to redeem rewards for goods and services using Pi tokens. The system supports discounts or complimentary items from various businesses, with animations enhancing the user interface during the scanning process.

It consolidates points and rewards from multiple brands into a single digital wallet, eliminating the need for physical cards and simplifying management for users handling several programs.

Nature’s Pulse: E-Commerce for Produce and Wellness Community

Nature’s Pulse operates as an e-commerce platform enabling purchases of fresh produce with Pi payments and direct delivery. Users browse items, select quantities, add to carts, and complete secure transactions.

The app includes a community dashboard called Pulse, where both Pi Network users (known as Pioneers) and non-Pioneers share remedies, professional content, and learning journeys, earning tips in Pi. This dashboard resembles a professional networking site focused on wellness, integrating Pi for monetization.

Bomb Studios Arcade: Multimedia Gaming Platform

Bomb Studios Arcade aims to deliver comics and games within the Pi ecosystem, providing a multimedia experience. The platform features titles like Eternal Rush, an online game, as well as casual play-to-earn options, including Spot Nori and War Card Game. It builds on prior games, such as Fruity Pi, utilizing Pi for in-game transactions and rewards to engage the community.

Stream Pi: Content Creation and Monetization

Stream Pi allows users to create profiles with Pi usernames, wallet addresses, and customizable avatars upon login. Creators upload short videos or stories for a fee of one Pi token, with half allocated to a weekly reward pool and the remainder supporting the platform.

Viewers interact through likes, comments, and tips in Pi, fostering a creator economy that spans multiple formats.

Truth Web: AI Tools for Development and Content

Truth Web centers on artificial intelligence features, including Truth Web AI, which handles coding tasks and strategic analysis. It generates executable code, such as Python scripts for data visualization, and includes Truth Audio, a text-to-speech engine supporting multiple languages and tones. The Truth Artist tool generates visuals ranging from hyperrealistic to abstract, based on user input.

Worklet for Pi: Project Management Tool

Worklet for Pi serves as a task and project management application for administrators, teams, and clients. It unifies productivity tools in a secure environment, with admin features for workspace creation, role assignments, and branding customization. The platform addresses the fragmented collaboration needs within organizations that utilize Pi's ecosystem.

Additional projects in the showcase include ReloadPi, which facilitates SIM card purchases and mobile top-ups via Pi payments; Connect Pi, a networking tool; Servers Pi Hosting, providing infrastructure services; and Eternal Rush, a standalone game. These submissions reflect the hackathon's emphasis on practical applications, from financial services to entertainment.

The hackathon concludes on October 15, 2025, with final submissions requiring both a Google Form and an entry in the Developer Portal. Numerous developers have engaged, building on the momentum from the Pi2Day event in June 2025. The protocol will judge the applications based on Pi integration, long-term potential, and community needs.

Final Thoughts

The Pi Hackathon 2025 midpoint showcase demonstrates the network's ability to foster application development in various areas, including loyalty rewards, e-commerce, gaming, content creation, artificial intelligence, and project management, all tied to Pi token usage.

These projects demonstrate specific technical integrations that support secure transactions and community interactions. Additionally, it highlights the platform's role in expanding blockchain accessibility, with over 60 million users and ongoing developments in open network connectivity, providing a clear path for practical cryptocurrency applications that do not rely on speculative growth.
