In the coming months, Meta Apes will introduce its governance token, launch more NFT collectibles and introduce in-game validators and staking.
Meta Apes—a free PlayAndEarn game available on Android and iOS—became the first game to launch on BNB Applications Sidechain (BAS).
The team launched the mainnet on May 31, along with a 5,000 Non-Fungible Token (NFT) sale that sold out in just two days. Meta Apes aims to deliver a fun gaming experience, similar to other popular mobile games like Age of Apes. The difference with other Web2 games is that it lets users own their in-game digital assets and earn rewards. For instance, they can purchase NFT fighters to generate $SHELL tokens or enjoy a FreeToPlay mode without owning any NFTs.
BSC News reached out to the Meta Apes team to learn more about their vision of onboarding the massive mobile game audience to Web3:
“We created Meta Apes because we saw an opportunity in the current Web3 gaming landscape for an experience that appeals to traditional and blockchain gamers alike. Meta Apes can become the next-generation blockchain game that offers both audiences something valuable,” explained the team. “An opportunity for traditional gamers to earn & truly own their in-game assets and a much more interactive and enjoyable experience for blockchain gamers who are primarily looking to earn.”
The game made history as the first BAS game, a framework that creates dApp-specific blockchains to solve scalability issues in high transaction use cases like massively multiplayer online (MMO) games.
The team told BSC News the value of launching Ape Chain, a blockchain dedicated only to Meta Apes.
“I’d have to say my favorite part of building on BAS is the scalability & flexibility it offers. These are important for any application but are particularly critical for games, where transaction volume is very high, and real-time performance is everything,” commented Taylor, business lead from Meta Apes. “By building on BAS, we avoid common issues we’ve seen with other blockchain games, such as network congestion and poor user experience, and create a more sustainable and long-term focused game & token design.”
Scalability might be among the most significant issues to solve in the entire space. Ultimately, this new framework is promising for users, games, devs, and the Binance ecosystem. More crypto games will be able to run smoothly within the BNB world, with negligible transaction costs and immediate settling times.
Meta Apes is a FreeToPlay, PlayAndEarn MMO strategy game. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world, in which humanity has ended, and a new era ruled by Apes has begun. Next on the agenda is space domination. Each primate will have to work closely with their Gang to become the strongest Clan and win the ultimate race to space.
Meta Apes is the first game to launch on BNB Application Sidechain (BAS) with a chain dedicated to Meta Apes only (Ape Chain).
