Inside An Axie Infinity Real Life Meetup

Axie Infinity hosted its first real-life meetup in the Philippines at the Versus Arcade Bar in Bonifacio Global City.

The nearly five-hour event took place on June 14 and was announced by Axie’s Philippine Lead, Nix Eniego, through a Tweet weeks before the event. Tickets to the meetup were sold out within ten minutes of its release as community members wanted to hang out outside the metaverse after the pandemic. Additionally, the meetup served as a way to relax and mingle with the Axie community after a successful Axie Infinity Origin PH Championship.

“The #AxiePH meetup was mind-blowing. The level of support the community showed during these times is something I’m truly grateful for,” Nix Eniego told Web3Wire. “We had dozens of players and community members from other countries, and far away provinces fly in just to attend the meetup!”

Presence of Popular Community Members

Sky Mavis members in attendance were regional community leads Nix and Lima, Zyori and Stewart from Axie’s ESports department, and other members of the support team. In addition, four Time Axie Arena Champion, Indes, Creator Cup Champion, Hezelya, and the first Axie PH Origin Champion, ADRD, led a room full of top Axie Infinity players, which include Laya, P4trick, and spamandrice. The event was also jam-packed with popular streamers like Myrtle Sarrosa, Extra Rai, BoarKnock, and Patty Paraiso, as well as representatives of one of the top gaming guilds, YGG.

The Philippine Axie community partied the night away with free food and drinks served during the event. Each shared stories and took pictures of the different personalities inside the arcade bar. 

Japanese Axies also served as prizes for two different games during the event. The first is a Twitter event where each tweet with the hashtag #AxiePH goes into a raffle for two Japanese Axies, while the second was a sticker hunt inside the venue where a Japanese Axie and $5 AXS will go to the first person to find the sticker.

“IRL events like this help us strengthen the core Axie community,” Eniego added. “It also helps attract new players to come in and join the family. Pretty bullish for this and the next meetups all over the globe!”

Nix also shared that he received many messages asking when the next Axie meetup would be held, a question to which he hinted that it could be sooner rather than later. A good number of Axie PH community members could not attend the event for various reasons, so a second meetup will surely be one to look forward to.
