Ice Open Network (ION) continues to make progress in the blockchain industry, emphasizing scalability and privacy for decentralized applications. As part of its customary effort to keep users updated, the project shared multiple updates on its X account over the past week, demonstrating consistent development for its flagship product, Online+. These posts covered beta bulletin details and new partnerships

Today’s weekly roundup explores these updates as ION continues to build its highly anticipated decentralized social media platform.

New Partnerships Expand ION's Ecosystem

The period saw announcements of several partnerships integrating with Online+ and ION. On August 11, as part of the bulletin, ION highlighted three integrations. CryptoAutos has added $ICE token support to its automotive marketplace, enabling users to purchase or rent vehicles using the token. 8lends joined to enable peer-to-peer investing within Online+, creating a community for crowdlending. NebulAI integrated its decentralized AI infrastructure, providing AI tools for creators without central oversight.

On August 12, ION welcomed Arena of Faith (AOF), a multiplayer online battle arena game with decentralized esports, play-to-earn mechanics, and AI elements. Backed by entities like Tencent and Animoca Brands, AOF's integration aims to support Web3 gaming experiences in Online+.

Most recently, ION announced a partnership with BOB (Build on Bitcoin), a hybrid blockchain that combines the features of Bitcoin and Ethereum. This allows token projects on BOB to use Online+'s social features, including wallets, chat, and monetization tools.

Online+ Beta Bulletin Highlights Feature Additions and Bug Resolutions

ION’s latest Online+ Beta Bulletin covers developments from August 4 to August 10. The bulletin outlined feature updates and more than 50 bug fixes aimed at enhancing the decentralized social media dApp's usability and stability.

ION's Product Lead, Yuliia, commented on the progress in the bulletin. "This week, the team delivered a huge round of improvements that really sharpen the product experience," Yuliia added. "We knocked out a long list of bugs across Wallet, Chat, Feed, Profile, and General areas, tackling everything from calculation errors and broken links to UI polish and performance boosts."

Key Feature Updates

  • Wallet: Added ION Content NFT collection support. This addition enables users to manage and view NFT collections directly within the wallet interface, supporting ION's content-focused ecosystem without the need for external tools.
  • Chat: Hide followers with privacy settings on the share screen. Users can now apply privacy controls to prevent follower lists from appearing when sharing content, enhancing data protection during interactions.
  • Feed: Automatically remove relay providers that return errors. The system detects and excludes faulty relay providers in real time, which helps maintain consistent feed performance and reduces loading interruptions.
  • Profile: Added instant (optimistic) UI updates when following someone. When a user follows another profile, the interface updates immediately without waiting for server confirmation, providing a more responsive experience.
  • General: Improved network logging for the app. Enhanced logging captures more detailed network activity, enabling developers to diagnose issues and improve overall app reliability.
  • General: Updated how push notification images are handled. Notifications now process images more efficiently, ensuring faster delivery and better visual quality without straining device resources.
  • General: Automatically retry DNS lookup if the first attempt fails. Automatic retries for DNS lookups prevent connection failures caused by temporary network glitches, ensuring smoother app connectivity.

Bug Fixes at a Glance

The bug fixes in the Online+ Beta Bulletin addressed a range of issues across authentication, wallet, and chat functionalities to improve reliability and user experience.

In authentication, issues with the "Register" button being cut off and incomplete registrations were resolved, ensuring a smoother onboarding process.

Wallet corrections included accurate total token calculations across networks, fixes for ION Coin sending where deductions were incomplete or transactions stuck pending, elimination of errors when sending from Tron addresses, enabling Bitcoin transfers to other users, restoring the "Receive" warning modal, and updating terminology from "Chains" to "Networks" in the NFT tab.

For chat, changes involved updating the "Cancel" button to "Cancelled" for transactions, correcting IONPay coin logos, enhancing readability of shared vote posts, preventing horizontal media overflow in stories, removing blinking on deleted stories, enabling reply copying, adding optimistic UI for conversation loading, eliminating duplicate block list entries, reducing lag in empty chats, restoring missing avatars, and smoothing scrolling to eliminate wobbling.

Further fixes targeted feed, profile, and general app areas. In the feed, ION deeplinks became clickable, unlimited likes were prevented, repost counters were corrected, multiple reposts on iOS stopped, blocked users stayed listed, polls UI and taps were repaired, article editor sheets closed after saves, post edit cancellations were allowed, copy/paste menus stayed open longer, quoted content padding was restored, video redactor crashes were resolved, background video playback ended, three-dot menus worked in Arabic, "Maintenance" screens post-internet recovery were fixed, and bookmarking for new collections was enabled.

Profile improvements removed nostr links from reports, enabled direct deep links, sped up follower list loading, and corrected counts. General fixes included handling HEAD requests for internet checks and restoring keyboard activation on field taps, which contributed to overall stability.

Looking ahead, the bulletin indicated a focus on final performance improvements, including feed scrolling and media loading. Comprehensive regression testing of the wallet across all networks is planned, alongside the ongoing onboarding of over 3,000 verified creators and more than 100 Web3 projects.

ION's Technical Foundation and Capabilities

ION positions itself as an ultra-fast L1 blockchain for privacy-focused dApps. The updates reflect efforts to refine Online+, the flagship dApp that combines social features with Web3 elements, including NFTs, wallets, and token integrations. The platform's fork of TON for its main chain, paired with a custom side chain for high transaction throughput, supports these functionalities.

In summary, ION's current capabilities include a beta-stage social dApp with encrypted chat, customizable feeds, multi-network wallet support, and integrations for real-world token use in areas like automotive purchases and AI tools. With over 3,000 creators and 100 projects involved, Online+ is one to look out for in the coming weeks. As expected, BSCN will continue to monitor the protocol’s progress in the crypto ecosystem.
