Chainlink CCIP v1.6 has officially launched on the Solana mainnet. As a result, Solana and major networks like Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Arbitrum can securely and cost-effectively transfer assets and data across chains.

Bringing Cross-Chain Assets to Solana

The CCIP v1.6 update empowers projects like Maple Finance, Shiba Inu, and Backed Finance to bring their tokenized assets into Solana’s fast and low-cost ecosystem. These tokens collectively hold more than $19 billion in market value.

Per reports, by adopting Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard, these projects can move assets easily across chains without compromising security or speed. Newcomers like ElizaOS, The Graph, Pepe, and Zeus Network will be adopting the CCT standard for the first time.

This upgrade does more than just add Solana support. It reduces transaction costs and streamlines the system’s architecture, making it easier to scale across hundreds of blockchains. For developers and institutions, this means better interoperability and smoother user experiences across multiple networks.

Security and Speed at the Core

Chainlink is known for securing billions in DeFi total value locked (TVL). With CCIP now live on Solana, it brings its trusted decentralized oracle infrastructure to one of the blockchain industry’s fastest-growing ecosystems.

According to a recent announcement, Solana’s high throughput and low fees complement Chainlink’s security, making it attractive for institutional investors and developers working with tokenized real-world assets (RWAs).

“Solana's high throughput, low fees, and large developer community make it an ideal environment for building next-generation, “cross-chain applications,” said Johann Eid, Chief Business Officer at Chainlink Labs. With CCIP, leading projects representing billions of dollars in market cap can now move assets into the Solana ecosystem, laying the foundation for an asset-rich ecosystem that attracts institutional capital, deepens liquidity, and expands the footprint of tokenized RWAs."

Connecting Solana to Major Networks

With CCIP v1.6, Solana is now linked to top blockchain networks such as Arbitrum, Base, BNB ChainEthereum, Optimism, and Sonic. More connections are planned as the upgrade rolls out to other chains. This wide connectivity enables seamless asset transfers and data sharing between Solana and other leading ecosystems.

Bridging applications like Interport, OpenOcean, Transporter, and XSwap have started integrating Solana support, making cross-chain swaps and liquidity flows easier for users. These tools build on Chainlink’s secure infrastructure to expand access and functionality in decentralized finance.

Institutions already using Chainlink’s services can now enter the Solana ecosystem more easily. This helps accelerate Solana’s growth as a hub for tokenized real-world assets. Many large DeFi communities and token developers within Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) networks can extend their reach to new users on Solana.

Scaling to Hundreds of Blockchains

Beyond adding Solana, CCIP v1.6 enhances Chainlink’s ability to scale its network coverage rapidly. The protocol already supports over 57 blockchains on mainnet and has integrated 26 new networks this year, including Berachain, Monad, and Soneium.

Fifteen chains, such as Bitlayer, BoB, and Ronin, have adopted CCIP as their main cross-chain infrastructure. The new upgrade introduces architectural improvements that reduce complexity for node operators and lower operating costs. This allows Chainlink to support hundreds more blockchains, both EVM-compatible and others, with a unified cross-chain layer.
