Xrp Sentiment Surges After Rakuten Integration News

XRP bullish sentiment has hit its second-highest level in two years, according to Santiment, following Rakuten Wallet's integration that lets 44 million users convert loyalty points into XRP across Japan.

$XRP is seeing a sharp rise in bullish sentiment across social media following news of Rakuten Wallet's integration of the token into its payments ecosystem in Japan. According to on-chain analytics firm Santiment, this marks the second-highest level of bullish sentiment for XRP in the past two years.

Rakuten Opens XRP to 44 Million Users

The catalyst is significant in scale. Rakuten Wallet has added $XRP as a listed asset and payment method, giving users across Japan the ability to convert Rakuten Points into XRP, spot trade it in-app, and spend it at over 5 million merchant locations via the Rakuten Pay app. The integration taps into a loyalty pool worth roughly $23 billion in redeemable points — one of the largest retail deployments of XRP to date.

XRP is the first token to receive full Rakuten Pay integration at this scale. While Rakuten has supported Bitcoin, Ether, and Bitcoin Cash since 2023, none of those assets received direct connectivity with the Rakuten Pay checkout infrastructure. The move effectively embeds $XRP into the daily spending habits of tens of millions of Japanese consumers, without requiring them to set up external wallets or exchange accounts.

Looking ahead, Rakuten has also flagged a planned integration with Rakuten Bank that could open fiat-to-XRP conversion for an additional 17 million banking customers, potentially by Q3 2026. Japan's regulatory backdrop may also support further uptake: the country approved a bill in April cutting the capital gains tax rate on crypto from up to 55% to a flat 20%.

Sentiment Spike Draws Caution From Analysts

Santiment noted that the April sentiment spike pushed $XRP's positive-to-negative comment ratio deep into what it labels its "FOMO Zone," adding that readings of this scale often mark local tops rather than immediate price breakouts. The firm said that it is typically after the initial wave of enthusiasm fades that the real bullish impact of adoption news tends to materialise in price.

That measured view reflects broader analyst thinking. Real-world integrations of this type rarely produce instant, sustained price rallies. Sustained adoption and network activity — driven by actual consumer behaviour — are historically stronger drivers of longer-term value than sentiment spikes alone.

Still, the scale of Rakuten's rollout is hard to dismiss. With over 3 trillion loyalty points now convertible to $XRP and a promotional campaign running through mid-May offering up to ¥100,000 in XRP rewards for qualifying purchases, early adoption incentives are in place. Even a modest conversion rate from such a large user base would represent a meaningful on-ramp for the token.
