Gemini Secures Key U.S. Regulatory Approval
Gemini receives a Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO) license from the CFTC, allowing its affiliate Gemini Olympus to act as a regulated clearinghouse for digital asset derivatives and prediction markets.

Gemini's affiliate, Gemini Olympus, LLC, has received a Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO) license from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (@CFTC). Co-founder @Cameron took to X to announce the development, describing it as a significant milestone for the exchange.
The DCO license allows Gemini Olympus to act as a clearinghouse for regulated derivatives trading, including prediction markets. With end-to-end clearing now handled in-house, @Gemini can manage the full trade lifecycle — from execution through to settlement — for its Gemini Predictions marketplace.
Building a Full-Stack Regulated Marketplace
The DCO approval follows the CFTC's December 2025 designation of Gemini's affiliated entity, Gemini Titan, LLC, as a Designated Contract Market (DCM), which enabled the launch of the predictions marketplace in the same month. Together, the two licenses give @Gemini a comprehensive regulatory stack covering futures, options, and prediction markets in the United States.
With its DCO now in place, Gemini is one step closer to securing a full suite of CFTC derivatives licenses. Gemini Titan is expected to explore expanding its U.S. derivatives offering to include crypto futures, options, and perpetual contracts.
A High Bar to Clear
Gemini's December 2025 DCM approval made it the first crypto-native exchange to obtain the regulatory license required to operate a prediction market for U.S. retail investors. Obtaining CFTC registration requires implementing a robust compliance program, governance controls, market surveillance, clearing arrangements, and customer protections — a rigorous framework that explains why only a handful of platforms have achieved it. The approvals position Gemini alongside Kalshi and Polymarket in a rapidly maturing prediction market ecosystem, while opening the door to a broader suite of U.S.-regulated crypto derivatives.
