XRP Ledger Is Rebranding Its Core Software
The XRP Ledger is renaming its core server software from rippled to XRPLD with the upcoming version 3.2.0 release, requiring validators and node operators to update their infrastructure.

The core software powering @Ripple's $XRP Ledger is getting a new name. With the upcoming version 3.2.0 release, the long-standing "rippled" software will transition to "XRPLD," marking one of the more visible infrastructure changes in the network's recent history.
What Is Changing and Why It Matters
XRP Ledger Operations confirmed the rebrand on June 4, describing it as part of a broader effort to establish a unified reference implementation across all users and node participants. The command-line interface has already been updated to reflect the new name, showing "xrpld version 3.2.0" during version checks.
The change is not purely cosmetic. All infrastructure providers, validators, and node operators will be required to update their systems ahead of the migration to the new XRPL mainnet. Developers are preparing a detailed playbook to guide operators through the process and reduce disruption during the switchover.
The naming transition has added complexity to the update process, and according to validator Vet, it is one of the reasons the release requires additional work before completion.
Building on a Recent Track Record
Version 3.2.0 follows the successful activation of XRP Ledger version 3.1.3, which went live in May 2026 and introduced a number of fixes to the NFTs, vault systems, permissioned domains, and lending protocol components.
According to recent developer updates and XRP Ledger Operations announcements, the upcoming release is part of a broader effort to strengthen network stability, improve security, and modernize the protocol's underlying architecture. Developers have also pointed to AI-powered red team and blue team operations, alongside bug bounty programs, as having delivered strong security testing results ahead of the new version.
Hussein Zangana, Director of Community at the XRP Ledger Foundation and a dUNL validator known online as Vet, framed the update in broader terms: "Market sentiment is temporary, but the core protocol improvements that our $XRP and other assets live on are permanent."
No specific launch date for version 3.2.0 has been confirmed. Infrastructure operators are advised to monitor official XRP Ledger Operations channels and review the forthcoming upgrade playbook ahead of the mainnet migration.
