The pound gets a payroll rail: tGBP goes live on Zebec
Britain's FCA-registered sterling stablecoin tGBP is now live on the Zebec SuperApp, enabling real-time payment streaming and cards, with enterprise payroll support to follow.

Britain's regulated sterling stablecoin lands on Zebec
Tokenized GBP, issued by @tokenGBP, is now live on @Zebec_HQ's SuperApp, powering card payments and real-time payment streaming for users. Enterprise payroll functionality is expected to follow in a subsequent rollout.
The token behind the integration, tGBP, is issued by BCP Technologies, an FCA-registered firm and currently the only GBP-pegged stablecoin issuer registered with the FCA. Each tGBP token is backed 1:1 by reserves held in a segregated account at a UK-regulated financial institution and is fully redeemable for sterling at any time. The token operates on multiple blockchain networks including Ethereum, Base, Avalanche, BNB Chain, Polygon, and Solana.
Until now, GBP stablecoin options have been limited, typically issued by offshore entities with low liquidity, especially compared to dominant US dollar stablecoins. The Zebec integration gives tGBP a direct link to a live payments platform with an existing user base and growing institutional footprint.
Zebec's payroll rail keeps expanding
The tGBP listing continues a period of rapid expansion for @Zebec_HQ. Just days earlier, Zebec introduced Enterprise Payroll through Stellar, with the Stellar Development Foundation confirming the initiative aims to broaden real-time salary payments and financial services for businesses worldwide. The protocol allows contractors and employees to receive compensation in digital dollars directly into their wallets, with funds spendable via Zebec's Mastercard cards or convertible into regional fiat currencies.
With tGBP now joined to the same rails, sterling becomes the latest currency to plug into Zebec's streaming payroll infrastructure alongside the dollar. The SuperApp consolidates real-time payroll streaming, card management, and $ZBCN staking into a single interface, aiming to bridge on-chain salaries with everyday spending.
For tGBP, the Zebec integration marks a meaningful step beyond exchange listings. The token has surpassed $11 million in market capitalisation, placing it among the top 10 non-USD stablecoins worldwide by market cap. Connecting it to a live payroll and payments platform extends its utility into a practical, recurring use case, one that could accelerate adoption among UK businesses and their global workforces.
