Strategy Posts Record Year-to-Date BTC Gain
@Strategy has reported a year-to-date BTC Gain of 63,410 $BTC, representing a realized value of approximately $5.1 billion — the firm's strongest performance on record by this metric. The figures build on numbers disclosed in the company's official Q1 2025 earnings, where Strategy reported a year-to-date BTC Yield of 13.7% and a BTC $ Gain of $5.8 billion as of April 28, 2025, meeting 58% of its annual target in just the first four months of the year.
The result prompted management to raise its own bar. Strategy increased its full-year 2025 BTC Yield target from 15% to 25% and its BTC $ Gain target from $10 billion to $15 billion. The company describes itself as the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin and the world's first Bitcoin Treasury Company.
Dominant Position in the Bitcoin Network
The latest accumulation cements @Strategy's standing at the top of the corporate Bitcoin leaderboard. According to @BSCNews, the firm now controls approximately 3.9% of the total Bitcoin network supply — a level of concentration that has no parallel among publicly listed companies. As of May 4, 2025, Strategy held 555,450 $BTC acquired for approximately $38.08 billion at an average cost of $68,550 per bitcoin.
With over 70 public companies worldwide now adopting a Bitcoin treasury standard, Strategy remains at the forefront of what has become a broader institutional trend. The gap between Strategy and its nearest rivals is significant: Strategy's total holdings stand at 818,334 BTC worth approximately $63.7 billion on a more recent basis, underscoring just how far ahead of the pack the firm has moved.
Executive Chairman @saylor has been the driving force behind the strategy, treating Bitcoin accumulation as the firm's primary performance benchmark. Saylor has framed BTC Gain as a new performance standard, writing that "BTC Gain is the closest analog to Net Income on the Bitcoin Standard." The approach relies heavily on capital markets execution. The company executed a record $21 billion common stock ATM offering, adding 301,335 BTC to its balance sheet while simultaneously achieving a 50% increase in MSTR share price during the same period.
SaylorTracker data shows Strategy disclosed Bitcoin purchases in 41 separate weeks in 2025, up from 18 purchases in 2024 and just eight in 2023 — a pace of accumulation that has no precedent in the company's history. Whether that cadence is sustainable will depend on continued access to low-cost capital and prevailing Bitcoin market conditions.
