Upbit Listing Sends OriginTrail Soaring 95%

OriginTrail's TRAC token surged as much as 95% after South Korea's largest exchange Upbit announced listings across KRW, BTC, and USDT pairs on May 18, 2026.

Upbit Listing Sends OriginTrail Soaring 95%

OriginTrail ($TRAC) surged as much as 95% on May 18 after South Korea's largest cryptocurrency exchange, Upbit, confirmed it would list the token across three trading pairs: KRW, BTC, and USDT.

The token briefly touched $0.62 before cooling toward $0.45, as traders rushed to gain exposure to the AI-focused blockchain project in the hours following the announcement.

Why the Upbit Listing Matters

Upbit consistently ranks among the top cryptocurrency exchanges globally by spot trading volume, with particular dominance in the South Korean market, exposing TRAC to a large pool of active retail traders who primarily use Upbit as their exchange of choice. A KRW pair allows South Korean traders to buy TRAC directly with their local currency, removing the need to first acquire Bitcoin or a stablecoin, and given Upbit's position as the leading Korean exchange, this provides the most direct fiat access point for TRAC in South Korea.

The fact that TRAC is receiving three trading pairs, not just one, signals a level of commitment from the exchange. Upbit has been gravitating toward projects with ties to data and artificial intelligence, two themes dominating Korean retail interest, and TRAC fits neatly into that category without being a pure AI play, giving it a differentiated profile compared to the wave of AI tokens that have flooded the market.

What Is OriginTrail?

OriginTrail has been around since 2018. The project operates what it calls the Decentralized Knowledge Graph, a system designed to organize, verify, and make discoverable trusted data across supply chains and enterprise networks, with TRAC serving as the utility token for staking and data publishing within that system.

The project has evolved from supply chain origins toward a broader knowledge economy mission, aligning with AI's growing need for verifiable, high-quality data. OriginTrail has gained support and partnerships with organizations such as the British Standards Institution, SCAN, Polkadot, Parity, Walmart, the World Federation of Hemophilia, Oracle, and the EU Commission's Next Generation Internet.

Getting listed on Upbit with three trading pairs is expected to improve pricing efficiency, with tighter spreads, deeper order books, and better arbitrage opportunities across global exchanges. Before this listing, Korean traders who wanted exposure to TRAC had to go through international exchanges or more indirect routes.
