Fortune crowns Hyperliquid the king of DEFI
Fortune Magazine's inaugural Crypto 100 ranking has named Hyperliquid the top DeFi protocol, placing $HYPE ahead of established names like Aave, Lido Finance, and Uniswap. PancakeSwap also earns recognition for BNB Chain.

Hyperliquid leads Fortune's first DeFi ranking
@FortuneMagazine has published its inaugural Crypto 100, and in the decentralized finance category, the verdict is clear: @HyperliquidX takes the top spot. $HYPE, the native token of the perpetuals-focused DEX, ranks No. 1 in DeFi, ahead of long-established protocols including @aave, @LidoFinance, and @Uniswap.
The Fortune Crypto 100 is a definitive ranking of the most influential companies in blockchain, drawing on rigorous data analysis by Inca Digital and a survey of leading crypto experts. The ranking sorted more than 3,000 companies into 10 categories of 10 entries each, with a survey of over 200 crypto experts informing trust and reputation scores.
The result is a striking validation for Hyperliquid. Early crypto pioneers like Coinbase and Kraken feature on the list alongside cutting-edge up-and-comers like Hyperliquid, which has only emerged in the last five years. Hyperliquid earned the DeFi crown after a year of measurable growth, recently cracking the top 10 by market capitalization, flipping Dogecoin in the process. Its Assistance Fund has directed $1.16 billion in buybacks toward $HYPE since launch, while growing institutional ETF demand has supported the token through 2026.
BNB Chain and Solana also make the cut
@PancakeSwap flies the BNB Chain flag at No. 6 in the DeFi category, ahead of Morpho and a Solana trio comprising Meteora, Kamino, and Raydium. The result underlines the breadth of the current DeFi landscape, with multiple chains competing for relevance alongside Ethereum-native protocols.
Fortune launched the Fortune Crypto 100 as a new ranking that recognizes the most influential companies and protocols shaping the global digital asset ecosystem, highlighting leaders across 10 categories including CeFi, DeFi, TradFi, venture capital, mining, stablecoins, and blockchain protocols. In other categories, Franklin Templeton ranked first in TradFi, Robinhood in FinTech, Tether in Stablecoins, and Bitcoin topped the Blockchains and Protocols segment.
The publication of the list coincides with the passing of an era defined by overnight riches and larger-than-life characters, as blockchain moves to the background and AI becomes the dominant story in finance. Even so, the Fortune Crypto 100 makes the case that decentralized finance remains a serious force, with $HYPE's rise from obscurity to category leader in under three years its most pointed example.
