Cardano Foundation Launches Blockchain Development Lab In Latin America
The Cardano Foundation and the University of Brasília have partnered to open the first Cardano Project Development Lab in Latin America, targeting blockchain research, education, and real-world ADA-based applications.

The Cardano Foundation (@Cardano_CF) has formed a strategic partnership with the University of Brasília (@unb_oficial) to establish the first Cardano Project Development Lab in Latin America, marking a significant step in the foundation's regional expansion push.
A Multidisciplinary Hub for Public-Sector Innovation
The lab, housed within UnB, goes beyond standard blockchain research. According to reporting from Crypto Economy, it will integrate blockchain, artificial intelligence, IoT, and digital identity, with a specific focus on solutions for the Brazilian public sector. UnB will also incorporate Cardano blockchain courses across its undergraduate, graduate, and executive education programs, embedding $ADA-based development directly into its academic curriculum.
The facility is designed to function as a connector for the wider regional ecosystem, bringing together startups, government bodies, and private sector partners to build applications with practical, real-world impact.
Part of a Broader Latin America Strategy
The UnB partnership fits into a broader push by the Cardano Foundation across Latin America. Rafael Fraga, the foundation's head of business development for the region, has emphasized that these academic collaborations are central to driving sustainable blockchain adoption in LATAM. Previous partnerships have included Argentina's Universidad Tecnológica Nacional and Brazil's public IT firm SERPRO, signaling a consistent effort to build institutional roots across the continent.
For the Cardano Foundation, anchoring $ADA-based development inside leading universities provides a pipeline of trained developers and a platform for deploying decentralized infrastructure tailored to local market conditions. The UnB lab is the latest and most prominent example of that model taking shape.
