Aptos Has Introduced A Governance Proposal To Bring Confidential $Apt To Mainnet, Marking A Significant Step Toward On-Chain Financial Privacy For The Network.
The proposed upgrade would allow users to encrypt their token balances and transaction amounts directly on-chain. Crucially, user identities would remain visible, a design choice the team says is intended to preserve accountability and support regulatory compliance.
The feature is fully opt-in, meaning existing users who prefer full transparency can continue operating as normal. Aptos says the move is aimed at serving both retail users seeking greater financial privacy and institutional participants who operate under stricter confidentiality requirements.
The proposal is currently open for governance review by the Aptos community.
