Succinct Labs is making significant strides in zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs), a cryptographic method reshaping how data is verified securely and privately across blockchain networks in the Decentralized Finance (DeFi) industry.
With its flagship offerings, SP1, an open-source Zero-Knowledge Virtual Machine (zkVM), and a decentralized Prover Network, the San Francisco-based company is positioning itself as a key player in enhancing blockchain scalability and accessibility.
Today, we want to explore the protocol’s ecosystem, diving deep into its operational mechanisms and recently launched Prover Network testnet. This article aims to provide a comprehensive look at its contributions to the blockchain ecosystem.
What is Succinct Labs?
Founded in 2022, Succinct Labs has quickly gained attention for its mission to simplify ZKPs, which allow one party to prove a statement’s truth to another without revealing the underlying details. This technology is vital for improving privacy and efficiency in blockchain applications.
The company, backed by $55 million in funding from investors like Async Capital, Bankless Ventures, and Geometry Ventures, collaborates with major blockchain projects such as Polygon, Celestia, Avail, and Mantle Network.
One of the building blocks of the protocol’s ecosystem is the Prover Network. On February 10, 2025, launching its first testnet program, “Level 1: Crisis of Trust,” was a pivotal milestone for its development.
According to the company’s blog, this testnet, which is currently live, aims to coordinate a decentralized network of provers to boost global proving capacity, a critical step toward a full mainnet rollout. The testnet marks a tangible advancement in their plans, with community rewards slated for the mainnet launch.
What Sets Succinct Labs Apart?
Succinct Labs’ technology revolves around two core components: SP1 and the Decentralized Prover Network. Here’s a breakdown of their features:
SP1: A Developer-Friendly zkVM
SP1 is an open-source zkVM that lets developers write ZKPs in Rust. Described as the fastest, most feature-complete zkVM, SP1 supports a range of applications, from verifying Ethereum blocks (zkEVMs) to enabling rollups and light clients.
The recent SP1 Turbo (v4.0.0) update improves cost and latency, making it a practical tool for blockchain developers. Proofs generated by SP1 can be verified on Ethereum, Layer 2 solutions, Solana, mobile devices, and web platforms.
Decentralized Prover Network
This Ethereum-based protocol coordinates a network of provers to handle proof generation at scale. It provides highly reliable, cost-effective APIs, ensuring developers can access proving power without bottlenecks. This network is the backbone of Succinct Labs’ vision for a decentralized, efficient ZKP ecosystem.
A new feature, SP1-2FA, enhances the Prover Network’s security. Announced recently, SP1-2FA adds a second layer of protection to SP1 via Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), building on SP1 Turbo’s performance gains and the network’s proving infrastructure.
This feature, requiring just one line of code to enable, complements existing security measures like third-party audits and expert reviews. Succinct Labs also pursues formal verification to mathematically ensure SP1’s security, blending practical and theoretical safeguards.
Succinct Labs’ technology hinges on SP1’s ability to generate ZKPs in Rust, either locally or via the Decentralized Prover Network for optimal performance. Developers write proofs using SP1, which are then verified across blockchains like Ethereum or Solana. The prover network distributes the computational load, ensuring scalability and affordability.
For example, in zkEVMs, SP1 uses tools like Reth to prove Ethereum block execution, while rollups leverage validity proofs for secure bridging. This flexibility supports everything from privacy-focused identity systems to complex onchain computations.
The Prover Network Testnet: What’s Happening Now
The testnet, launched in February 2025, is a cornerstone of Succinct Labs’ efforts to decentralize proof generation. This initiative allows participants to engage with the Prover Network by generating ZK proofs, often through interactive games, with 1,000 spots available for early adopters. Participants will be able to earn stars as they generate ZK proofs. First, they must deposit $10 USDC to pay for the generated proofs, while additional deposits yield more stars, alongside requesting proofs.
Users are advised to check the platform’s X account for invite codes to join. Most recently, on April 8, Succinct shared a task on X for interested users who need an invite code to get onboarded on the Prover Network testnet.
The testnet aims to distribute proof generation across a network of provers, enhancing efficiency and availability while reducing costs. The protocol is hosted on Ethereum and offers APIs with 99.9 %+ uptime. This live testnet is a proving ground for the technology’s real-world performance, gathering critical data and feedback ahead of the anticipated mainnet phase.
According to the Roadmap, the Prover Testnet in Level 1 will precede one more level before the final mainnet launch in Level 3. While no specific date is mentioned, participants anticipate an airdrop when stars are redeemed.

Succinct Labs is carving a niche in the blockchain world, focusing on zero-knowledge proofs. The Prover Network testnet, ambitious roadmap, and robust features signal a commitment to scalability, security, and developer accessibility.
