The collaboration is set to bring AI's transformative potential to various industries.

Summary

  • Siemens and Microsoft have partnered to introduce Siemens Industrial Copilot, an AI-driven assistant for manufacturing, aiming to boost innovation and efficiency in the industrial sector and address skilled labor shortages.

Microsoft has partnered with German technology company Siemens to bring the transformative power of AI to industries worldwide. Together, they are unveiling Siemens Industrial Copilot, an AI-driven assistant designed to enhance human-machine collaboration in manufacturing, heralding a new era of innovation and efficiency in the industrial sector.

Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, emphasized the significance of this partnership, saying:

"With this next generation of AI, we have a unique opportunity to accelerate innovation across the entire industrial sector."

Siemens CEO Roland Busch echoed this sentiment, highlighting the potential of generative AI to revolutionize how companies design, develop, and operate, ultimately addressing skilled labor shortages.

Siemens Industrial Copilot promises to revolutionize the industrial landscape by dramatically reducing automation code development times, from weeks to mere minutes. The copilot leverages data from Siemens' digital business platform, Siemens Xcelerator, and combines it with Microsoft's Azure OpenAI Service, ensuring data security and control for users. The tool will provide maintenance staff with detailed repair instructions and engineers with quick access to simulation tools, fostering increased productivity and efficiency.

The vision of AI copilots extends beyond manufacturing, with plans to assist professionals in industries like healthcare, transportation, and infrastructure. Automotive supplier Schaeffler AG is already embracing generative AI, using Siemens Industrial Copilot to generate reliable code for industrial automation systems. Klaus Rosenfeld, CEO of Schaeffler Group, lauded the partnership, stating that the copilot would "help our team work more efficiently, reduce repetitive tasks, and unleash creativity."

Additionally, Teamcenter for Microsoft Teams, set to launch in December 2023, will leverage generative AI to enhance virtual collaboration, connecting frontline workers and engineering teams across the product design and manufacturing lifecycle. The integration will make data more accessible, enabling millions of workers to contribute to the design and manufacturing process seamlessly.
