This move enables secure and seamless token transfers across multiple blockchains using Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP).

Shiba Inu, one of the most popular meme coin ecosystems, integrated Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP).

This move has enabled its native tokens—SHIB, BONE, and LEASH—to adopt the Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard.

Alongside, TurboToadToken (TURBO), another meme token, has also embraced this innovative standard, enabling secure and seamless token transfers across multiple blockchains.

Breaking Cross-Chain Barriers with Chainlink CCIP

The adoption of the Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard marks a transformative moment for Shiba Inu and TURBO. By leveraging Chainlink’s CCIP, tokens like SHIB, BONE, LEASH, and TURBO can now be transferred securely across 12 blockchains, whereas Turbo can now be transferred across BNBChain and Ethereum.

Shiba Inu’s layer-2 scaling solution, Shibarium, has also integrated Chainlink CCIP as its canonical cross-chain infrastructure. This ensures developers can build robust, cross-chain decentralized applications (dApps) within the Shibarium ecosystem.

How It Works: Unlocking Cross-Chain Transfers

The CCT standard employs Chainlink’s CCIP mechanism, which enables two key methods for cross-chain token transfers:

  • Lock-and-Mint Program: Facilitates token transfers from Ethereum to other supported chains.
  • Burn-and-Mint Program: Extends cross-chain token movement across all other networks by burning tokens on the source chain and minting them on the destination chain.

These mechanisms reportedly ensure security, reliability, and interoperability, setting a new benchmark for blockchain token transfers.

Empowering Developers on Shibarium

Shibarium developers now have access to a infrastructure that fosters the creation of interoperable projects. Chainlink CCIP provides tools to develop feature-rich, secure dApps with reliable cross-chain functionality.

“Chainlink CCIP enables Shibarium developers to build feature-rich, reliable cross-chain applications that grow the Shibarium network,” stated Shiba Inu’s team.

Another critical aspect of this integration is Chainlink’s Data Streams, which supply high-frequency, low-latency market data. Shiba Inu’s team emphasized that this premium data enhances the ecosystem’s transparency and decentralization, offering unmatched reliability for both developers and users.

Kaal, the tech wizard behind Shiba Inu, outlined the significance of this milestone:

“We look forward to seeing how the Chainlink standard for cross-chain interoperability and Chainlink Data Streams unlocks innovation, expands the Shibarium Network, and supports the development of efficient and secure DeFi markets,” Chainlink’s Chief Business Officer, Johann Eid said.
