Ice Open Network’s flagship social media platform, Online+, has been making steady progress toward its public release. Recent announcements from the project's official X account, along with a detailed beta bulletin blog post, highlight milestones in development and preparations for launch.
Presently, the team behind the innovative product has focused on refining core features, addressing user feedback, and building anticipation for what they describe as a new era in social media. This article examines the latest developments, drawing from public statements and updates shared over the past week.
App Store Approvals Mark a Major Milestone for Online+
One of the most significant announcements came on July 11, 2025, when the platform revealed that Online+ had successfully passed reviews and received approval from both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. This step is crucial for any mobile app aiming for widespread adoption, particularly in the blockchain space where regulatory scrutiny can pose challenges.
The post stated: "We’re excited to share that Online+ has officially passed review and is now approved by both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. This is a major milestone—and a strong signal that launch is getting close."
However, the team emphasized that the launch would not be rushed, prioritizing a polished product over a minimal viable product (MVP). They cited ongoing work on the consensus mechanism, a key decentralized feature, as a reason for the deliberate pace.
In a related update, ION mentioned targeting the end of August for full integration of the $ION token with exchanges, which would involve coordinating liquidity and ensuring a smooth migration process. This timeline aligns with broader efforts to integrate blockchain elements seamlessly into the user experience, potentially attracting users interested in tokenized social interactions.
Beta Testing Advances: Feature Updates and Bug Fixes
The weekly Beta Bulletin blog, published on July 14, 2025, and authored by ION's Product Lead Yuliia, provided an in-depth look at the platform's refinement phase. According to the bulletin, the past week (July 7-13, 2025) saw the merging of all core features, shifting the team's focus to refining the app for stability across devices.
"We’re in that final stretch where it’s less about adding and more about refining. And honestly, that’s one of my favorite phases because it’s all so tangible and exciting: seeing those huge modules and features that it took us months to build get finishing touches," Yuliia stated.
Key updates included improvements to the Wallet module, such as an updated UI for sorting NFTs and restored chains lists in NFTs view. In the Chat section, smoother loading states and added roll-down functionality were implemented to enhance navigation.
The Feed, a central component of any social media app, received substantial attention. Updates included refactored relay management for improved data flow, an overhauled Stories module for enhanced stability, and smart relay selection that automatically connects users to the fastest server. The scoring logic was refined to prioritize content from active users, aiming to increase engagement.
General enhancements addressed performance, including memory analysis for the Chat and Profile modules, the resolution of circular dependencies in data providers, and the addition of a "no internet connection" main page.
Bug fixes were comprehensive, covering authentication issues like fixed registration errors and restored content in the "Discover creators" screen. Wallet bugs, including scroll speed improvements and resolved greyed screens after NFT sends, were also tackled.
Yuliia also highlighted the role of beta testers: "We’re also carefully going through all the latest feedback from our beta testers — making sure the app looks and feels good, not just on paper and in app stores’ eyes (yes, both Apple and Google approved our latest version!), but in people’s hands and across devices."
This reflects a methodical approach that emphasizes user-centric development in the competitive dApp landscape.
Community Engagement and Addressing Challenges
Over the past week, ION actively engaged with its community on X, responding to feedback, promoting the project, and countering criticism. In the same fold, community members praised the app's potential, with beta testers describing the reels as "addictive" and the UI as "smooth." ION’s X account replied to such feedback, including a video demo of the Feed and Reels on July 13, calling it "way too addictive."
Addressing misinformation or fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD), a post on July 12 quoted: "If they’re not spreading FUD, you’re not building something worth noticing." This was positioned as a sign of the project's relevance. An open letter from a community member on July 13 appreciated the team's resilience against "scamfluencers," which the account acknowledged positively.
“Online+ was never meant for noise-makers or "scamfluencers". It is being built for a value-driven, mission-focused community; people who understand the true power of ownership, decentralization, and #Web3 freedom. And we, the community, are proud to be part of that vision,” a part of the Open Letter reads.
Replies also tackled skepticism about innovation, comparing doubters to those who dismissed electricity or the internet in their early days.
Teasers for Launch and Future Initiatives
Building excitement, the media team shared a post on X, linking to the Online+ website homepage: "Online+ is coming sooner than you think. We’re not just building the future of social – we’re unleashing it. Get ready. The new era is almost here."
Additionally, the Beta Bulletin announced additional initiatives, including early-bird creator onboarding, which is now open for applications to help shape the platform. The team also previewed "Online+ Unpacked," a blog series launching on July 19, 2025, starting with "What Is Online+ and Why It’s Different," exploring on-chain identity, tokenized social layers, and creator monetization.
Looking ahead, the bulletin outlined plans for the week of July 14-20: sharpening Feed logic for relevance, tackling beta-flagged bugs, and improving the consensus mechanism. A full testing sweep is planned to ensure readiness.
As expected, Yuliia encouraged more feedback from Beta testers as the core team continues making progress with developing the “social media platform of the New Internet."
Launching Right Rather Than Hastily
Overall, these updates position Online+ as a contender in the decentralized social media sector, where platforms like those on blockchain aim to offer users ownership over data and earnings. From app approvals to detailed bug fixes and community building, last week has been pivotal for Online+ development as users anticipate its debut in the blockchain industry.
With $ION integration on the horizon, the app could appeal to crypto enthusiasts seeking alternatives to centralized giants.
The emphasis on transparency aligns with blockchain principles, potentially fostering loyalty. Furthermore, the project's commitment to "launching right" rather than hastily could set a precedent in the industry.
