Advancing Web3’s presence in the region, Circle, the issuer of the well-known USDC centralized stablecoin, has partnered with ride-hailing app, Grab, to bring Web3 experiences to Singaporean customers.

According to a September 14 press release, USDC-issuer, Circle, has partnered with ride-hailing application, Grab, to bring Web3 experiences to customers in Singapore.

Initially launching as the “Grab Web3 Wallet”, Grab-users will have the option to accrue blockchain rewards and collectibles, and even use vouchers denoted with NFTs.

According to Circle’s CEO and co-founder, Jeremy Allaire, “Circle is focused on partnering with global-scale consumer internet brands to bring everyday utility to users. Piloting our technology with Grab’s customers brings us closer to realizing the full potential of responsible digital assets innovation”.

The aforementioned Grab Web3 Wallet will provide support for the recently announced SG Pitstop Pack NFT vouchers, which coincides with F1’s upcoming Singapore Grand Prix.

“Circle is thrilled to partner with Grab to accelerate adoption of blockchain-powered innovation and support Singapore’s forward-thinking vision as a leading global hub for responsible digital asset innovation,” said Dante Disparte, Circle’s Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Global Policy.

Though exciting, Circle’s move is just the latest episode in its continued expansion into Singapore. The company opened its official Singapore office in May 2023 and has further collaborated with Tribe, “Singapore’s first government-supported blockchain ecosystem builder”.
