When Will Bee Network Release a New Roadmap?

chain

For many 'Beelievers', a new roadmap from the Bee Network project itself is a much hoped for development.

Bee Network has garnered attention for its community-driven approach within the Web3 ecosystem. However, some key initiatives from its original roadmap (2020 to 2022) are yet to materialize, begging the question of a new roadmap.

One of the key aspects of its roadmap remains its listing on exchanges. With this unfulfilled goal and many others, questions about the protocol’s long-term trajectory are being asked, particularly now that its competitors have launched their mainnet and tokens are live.

Today, we aim to look at the project’s past development stage and the prospects for an updated roadmap, drawing on official sources and community insights.

Bee Network’s Original Roadmap

Bee Network’s roadmap outlines three phases to build a robust decentralized ecosystem. Below, we break down each phase per the original plan:

Phase 1: Building a Trusted and Verified Network (Completed by Q3 2021)

The first phase focused on establishing a trusted community through extensive marketing and rigorous testing. Launched with a testnet on August 8, 2020, and officially rolled out on December 3, 2020, this phase prioritized spreading awareness across social networks to build a verified user base.

A three-month testing period involved the core development team and invited users to identify bugs, ensuring a seamless user experience. Simultaneously, Bee Network implemented marketing strategies to boost popularity. The phase, expected to take a year, targeted completion by Q3 2021.

Phase 2: Launching the Bee Network Marketplace (Targeted for Q3 2021)

Phase 2 aimed to launch a marketplace for exchanging goods and services using Bee Network’s native cryptocurrency, BEE, with a target of Q3 2021. This phase required reaching at least one million users, a milestone to support a vibrant ecosystem. To ensure security and compliance with Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism (AMLA/CFTA) regulations, Bee Network planned to implement a Know Your Customer (KYC) validation system. Initially, users registered via SMS-verified phone numbers, but KYC was deemed critical as the network grew. KYC has been introduced but only to a specific number of users, with many clamoring for mass KYC enrollment.

Reports indicated the marketplace launch was planned for mid-2022. However, nothing has changed. Further, the Bee Network team has not shared any updates regarding the marketplace, though community activity points to some functionality.

Phase 3: Listing on Major Cryptocurrency Exchanges (Targeted for Q3 2022)

The final phase aimed to list BEE on major centralized exchanges (CEXs) by Q3 2022, enabling users to trade BEE for fiat or other cryptocurrencies. This milestone depended on reaching three million registered users and building a sustainable ecosystem. The core team emphasized user engagement as a key driver.

This phase remains unfulfilled. No centralized exchange listings have been reported. For context, the team is yet to reveal details about the BEE tokenomics and Token Generation Event (TGE).

Will Bee Network Release a New Roadmap?

The absence of centralized exchange listings and outdated roadmap timelines underscores the need for a new plan. Stakeholders and users are eager for clarity on Bee Network’s future, particularly regarding:

  • Exchange Listings: A revised timeline for CEX listings would boost BEE’s liquidity and adoption.
  • Marketplace Development: Updates on the marketplace’s functionality and user engagement are critical.
  • User Growth Targets: New milestones for user acquisition could drive community momentum.
  • Technological Upgrades: Enhancements to security, scalability, or Web3 integrations could position Bee Network competitively.

To remain relevant, industry experts suggest that projects like Bee Network must adapt to evolving market demands, such as integrating with DeFi protocols or NFT ecosystems. A new roadmap could address these trends while addressing past delays.

Conclusion

With its three-phase plan, Bee Network’s original roadmap laid a foundation for a promising Web3 project. While Phases 1 and 2 appear largely complete, the unfulfilled Phase 3—listing on centralized exchanges—has left users awaiting clarity. As of May 2025, BEE remains limited to DEXs, and no new roadmap has been announced. With a growing community and a dynamic crypto landscape, Bee Network has an opportunity to redefine its path. A transparent, updated roadmap could reinvigorate trust and drive adoption, answering the question on every user’s mind: When will Bee Network take its next big step?
