At the Axie Infinity event, Chan5539 took home the championship after completing the reverse sweep during the finals against another top player, Kapitan.
As announced during the Season 1 launch, the Axie Infinity community meetup in Cabanatuan boasts a large LAN tournament at the epicenter of the game’s adoption in the Philippines.
Axie Infinity, a PlayAndOwn blockchain game on the Ronin network, hosted an event on Oct. 23 for its Filipino community in the province of Nueva Ecijah. Background music from the game was playing all day in the shopping mall of the event venue.
“The event was amazing. Total headcount verified was around 800 people,” Nix Eniego, Axie Infinity’s Philippines Lead, told BSC News. “The largest physical gathering of Lunacians in the Philippines, and maybe the second biggest after AxieCon! The Sky Mavis team was happy with the turnout and glad that we are able to connect with the community where Axie’s Philippine growth began.”
Top-tier Axie players, including AxieCon runner-up SpamAndRice, were present with Chan5539 completing the reverse sweep against Kapitan in the finals to take home the crown.
Panel discussions were also part of the program, with Axie Infinity OGs from the Philippines, like Kookoo and Sparky, and representatives from various guilds addressing the crowd. In his keynote, Eniego thanked the community and shared some alpha on the project as well.
