South Korea's Trading Giant Selects Injective for Blockchain Pilot...
POSCO International and LG CNS have selected the Injective blockchain to tokenize live trade receivables in a landmark proof-of-concept targeting the $5 trillion global trade finance market.
POSCO International, South Korea's largest trading company, has partnered with LG CNS to tokenize real commercial trade receivables on the @Injective blockchain network, in one of the most concrete enterprise blockchain deployments seen in the region to date.
Real Data, Not a Simulation
POSCO International, which generated $22.2 billion in revenue last year from businesses spanning steel, energy, and battery materials, is working with LG CNS, the technology arm of LG Group, to issue, transfer, and settle receivables on layer-1 blockchain Injective ($INJ). What sets this pilot apart is its use of live data. Unlike simulated transactions, the pilot uses real trade data from POSCO International's overseas subsidiaries to verify the issuance, transfer, and settlement of receivables.
Trade receivables represent a company's right to collect payment after goods have been shipped but before payment is received. Currently, these are managed separately by buyers, sellers, and banks, often resulting in delays of several days before cash settlement. POSCO's pilot aims to create a unified, transferable on-chain record for each receivable, carrying its own compliance data, ownership history, and settlement instructions. The initiative directly targets the $5 trillion annual trade finance market by replacing fragmented legacy records with synchronized on-chain data.
A Broader Shift in South Korean Corporate Blockchain Adoption
LG CNS has led key phases of Korea's wholesale central bank digital currency trials and built tokenized deposit platforms for the Bank of Korea involving seven major banks. That background makes the company a credible technical partner for an initiative of this scale.
The pilot is expected to conclude by the end of this year, after which the companies plan to evaluate expanding the system to actual business operations. The initiative underscores South Korea's growing corporate adoption of blockchain in areas such as trade finance, stablecoin-based treasury transfers, and asset tokenization. The initiative aligns with a broader trend among South Korea's major corporations embracing blockchain, including Hyundai Motor's adoption of stablecoins and Circle's payment infrastructure buildout with Kakao Group and Toss Bank.
The global tokenization market, currently valued at $35 billion, is projected to reach $5.5 trillion by 2030, according to Citi. The POSCO and LG CNS deployment on @Injective adds meaningful enterprise weight to that trajectory, moving the conversation from theoretical potential to live commercial application.
