Pi Network Distributed SLICE Test Tokens To Scale DEFI Education
Pi Network's PiCoreTeam completed the distribution of SLICE test tokens to over 242,000 Pioneers, using a simulated AMM liquidity pool to teach DeFi mechanics on its mobile-first platform.
242,000 Pioneers Complete SLICE Distribution Round
@PiCoreTeam has wrapped up the distribution of its second Pi Launchpad test token, SLICE, marking another step in the project's effort to bring decentralized finance education to its mobile-first community. From June 11 to June 28, over 242,000 participating Pioneers committed a total of 15.92 million Test-$PI toward acquiring 10 million SLICE test tokens.
SLICE is tied to the game Slice of Pi and includes a live price chart for tracking. The token will not move to Mainnet and is for educational use only. Unlike the first test token launch, SLICE is connected to a working third-party game, enabling Pi to test the engagement bonus feature with a real app rather than a dummy app, better informing Launchpad design ahead of a Mainnet version.
The SLICE project builds on the first Launchpad test, which began on PiDay 2026 on March 14. Nearly 480,000 Pioneers took part in that experiment, and their feedback helped enhance the user experience in the Launchpad system.
AMM Liquidity Pool Mechanics Take Centre Stage
The purpose of the test token launches is to introduce Pioneers to new ecosystem token mechanics and to educate the community on how to participate in DeFi mechanisms. By engaging with test tokens, Pioneers can build practical financial literacy around liquidity pools, swaps, and automated token pricing.
The Launchpad app in the Pi Browser shows individual allocation details, the launch and effective token prices, access to the SLICE liquidity pool, and a chart tracking changes in the asset's price relative to Test-Pi. Pioneers can now not only participate in the token launch and explore the liquidity pool, but also watch price movements happen in response to their own and other Pioneers' interactions with the pool, experiencing the core DeFi mechanic of AMM-driven price discovery directly.
The lessons, mechanics, and data generated by the SLICE launch will directly inform how Pi's Mainnet Launchpad will function when real value is at stake. The SLICE test provides valuable insights into user behavior, token distribution models, and engagement mechanisms that could support future applications built on Pi Network.
