Pi Network Adds 100k Kyc'D Pioneers And 30k Migrations In April
Pi Network added 100,000 KYC-verified Pioneers and 30,000 mainnet migrations in April, bringing cumulative totals to 18.1 million and 16.72 million respectively, as the network counts down to its Protocol 23 mandatory node upgrade deadline on May 15.

Pi Network added another 100,000 fully KYC-verified Pioneers and 30,000 new mainnet migrations in April, @PiCoreTeam confirmed in its monthly Network Update. The cumulative totals now stand at over 16.5 million Pioneers KYC'd and migrated to mainnet, with the latest figures from @PiCoreTeam placing the verified base at 18.1 million KYC'd users and 16.72 million migrated, one of the largest confirmed user bases in the crypto industry.
A Growing Verified User Base
The April figures reflect the continued momentum of Pi Network's identity verification push. KYC is considered one of the most important steps in the Pi Network journey, as it marks the transition from basic participation to fully verified status, a prerequisite for full mainnet migration and access to the network's future Web3 applications.
Pi Network has also introduced second migrations, allowing eligible users to transfer additional Pi balances, including referral mining bonuses linked to KYC-verified teams. Over 119,000 Pioneers have completed their second migrations so far, with the rollout continuing gradually.
Protocol 23 Deadline Approaches
April's user growth arrives at a critical moment on the technical roadmap. The Pi Core Team has set a hard deadline for all mainnet nodes to complete the Protocol 23 software upgrade by May 15, 2026. Nodes that fail to update will be disconnected from the network. This upgrade is foundational for unlocking full smart contract functionality, enabling DeFi and dApps.
Pi Network has confirmed it has reached 421,000 active mainnet nodes, placing it among the largest validator networks in the Layer 1 space. Over 10 billion $PI tokens have also migrated from testnet to mainnet ahead of the Protocol 23 launch.
The Pi testnet is already running v23, which introduced tokens, leading to speculation that Pi Network could launch tokens on the mainnet as early as June. Whether Protocol 23 delivers the developer activity needed to sustain that momentum remains the central question for the months ahead.
