Internet Computer Hits 284 Billion Transactions
Dfinity's Internet Computer Protocol has surpassed 284 billion non-query transactions, underscoring real network usage as the ICP token stages a price recovery amid broader crypto market gains.

Network Passes 284 Billion Transactions
@Dfinity's Internet Computer has crossed a notable milestone, recording more than 284 billion transactions on its network, according to data from @chainspect_app. What makes the figure particularly significant is that it counts only non-query transactions, the type of activity considered genuine on-chain usage rather than read requests. That distinction matters for assessing real network traction.
Internet Computer is a decentralized blockchain network developed and managed by the non-profit DFINITY Foundation, designed to extend the functionality of the public internet by enabling it to host and run decentralized software applications. Unlike most smart contract blockchains, which only store transaction data on-chain, Internet Computer can run software directly on the blockchain.
Internet Computer achieved record-high quarterly revenues for three consecutive quarters, reaching $5.7 million in Q1 2025, driven by increased decentralized exchange trading volumes. The transaction milestone adds to an increasingly active period for the protocol.
$ICP Price Stages a Recovery
The transaction count comes as $ICP showed signs of renewed momentum in the market. The token began recovering from mid-year lows starting around May 5th, in line with a broader crypto market rebound. ICP ranked fourth among weekly top gainers as of May 12, 2026, surging 37% in a week and highlighting renewed altcoin momentum. The rally followed a breakout from a multi-month consolidation phase, signaling a potential shift in market structure.
On the development side, DFINITY has been pushing new infrastructure aimed at the AI era. DFINITY founder Dominic Williams announced Cloud Engines, a sovereign cloud technology for Internet Computer, allowing anyone to create tamper-proof, vendor-agnostic cloud infrastructure integrating nodes from major providers and sovereign AI hardware. Separately, the Mission 70 initiative targets a 70% reduction in annual token inflation by end-2026, introducing a deflationary revenue-burn mechanism that could tighten supply as demand grows.
The combination of record transaction volume, a recovering token price, and active protocol development positions Internet Computer as one of the more closely watched layer-1 networks heading into the second half of 2026. As always with crypto assets, price moves can reverse sharply and past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.
