Interlink Announces Two-Factor Authentication For Itlg Ecosystem Security

InterLink (@inter_link) is rolling out two-factor authentication next week ahead of the $ITLG Token Generation Event, requiring users to secure mined balances via authenticator apps or SMS and update account emails.

Interlink Announces Two-Factor Authentication For Itlg Ecosystem Security

2FA Launch Timed to $ITLG Token Generation Event

@inter_link is set to activate two-factor authentication (2FA) for all users next week, adding a mandatory security layer to accounts as the platform moves closer to its $ITLG Token Generation Event (TGE). Users will be required to verify account access through either an authenticator app or SMS before the TGE proceeds.

The timing is deliberate. With mined $ITLG balances on the line, the project wants every account locked down before tokens become transferable. Users are also being asked to update their registered email addresses now, since account recovery and ongoing access to the SocialFi ecosystem will depend on having a current email on file.

Why 2FA Matters for Crypto Users

InterLink is a human-centric blockchain project building what it describes as the world's largest verified human network, using $ITLG as its utility and governance token. Its Proof of Personhood consensus mechanism is designed to ensure only verified humans can participate in mining, governance, and network validation, eliminating bot manipulation and fake accounts. Adding 2FA fits squarely within that philosophy.

Two-factor authentication adds a critical second layer of protection to any account that holds or manages digital assets. Even if someone steals a password through a data breach or phishing attack, they still cannot access the account without the second authentication factor. For a platform where users have accumulated mined token balances ahead of a TGE, the stakes around account security are particularly high.

Common 2FA solutions include receiving a one-time code by SMS, generating codes using a mobile app, or using biometric information such as fingerprints or face recognition. Security professionals generally favour authenticator apps over SMS. Authenticator apps provide better security than SMS-based 2FA because text messages can be intercepted through SIM-swapping attacks.

For $ITLG holders, the message from @inter_link is straightforward: update your email, enable 2FA before the TGE window opens, and choose an authenticator app where possible for the strongest available protection.
