Cathie Wood Sees Bitcoin Hitting $1M
ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood says Bitcoin could reach between $750,000 and $1.25 million within five years, driven by institutional adoption, emerging market demand, and generational wealth shifts.

Wood's Five-Year Bitcoin Outlook
ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood is standing by a bold long-term view on $BTC, saying Bitcoin could climb to between $750,000 and $1.25 million within the next five years. Wood points to three core drivers: institutional adoption, emerging market demand, and generational wealth shifts.
The forecast is part of a broader thesis Wood has developed through ARK's annual research. The outlook highlights institutional adoption, Bitcoin's role as a "digital gold," and emerging market demand as the key drivers behind the potential surge. In ARK's modelling, institutional investment contributes the most to the bull case, with a 6.5 percent penetration rate into the $200 trillion global market for financial assets seen as capable of propelling Bitcoin's price dramatically.
At those levels, a single Bitcoin would be worth more than the median price of most American homes, underscoring just how far outside mainstream financial thinking the target sits.
A Forecast That Has Evolved Over Time
Wood's Bitcoin price target has shifted as the crypto landscape has changed. Wood conceded that stablecoins are better suited to transactions than Bitcoin, which led her to reduce her 2030 Bitcoin price target from $1.5 million to $1.2 million. She acknowledged that stablecoins are capturing some of the value she had previously attributed to Bitcoin's potential role in emerging markets and cross-border payments.
Still, Wood's core conviction remains intact. The adjustment reduced ARK Invest's 2030 Bitcoin price target, though Wood emphasised that the cryptocurrency's long-term potential as "digital gold" remains intact. ARK estimates Bitcoin could capture up to 60 percent of gold's $18 trillion market cap under favourable conditions.
On the supply side, with less than 1 million BTC left ever to be minted, Wood maintains that dwindling supply and burgeoning demand for the asset would spark a supply shock and drive the expected rally.
Not everyone is convinced. Bitcoin's potential climb toward those levels will depend on sustained institutional momentum, geopolitical and economic trends, and regulatory developments both in the US and globally. For now, Wood's view represents one of the most prominent bull cases on Wall Street for the world's largest cryptocurrency.
