A early Bitcoin investor has completed the sale of an entire 5,000 $BTC position held for more than 12 years, walking away with roughly $435.75 million in total proceeds, according to onchain analytics platform Lookonchain.

The final tranche, 1,000 BTC worth approximately $65.56 million, was offloaded in the investor's last recorded transaction, bringing a multi-month exit to a close. Sales from the wallet began in November 2024.

From $1.66 Million to $435 Million

The wallet, tagged by Arkham Intelligence as "5K BTC OG," originally received 5,000 $BTC when Bitcoin traded near $332, putting the initial cost basis at an estimated $1.66 million. The full position was sold at an average price of approximately $87,151 per BTC, representing a return of more than 26,000% on the original outlay.

The exit was executed in a deliberate, staged manner. According to Benzinga, citing Lookonchain data, the OG transferred between 250 and 500 BTC per transaction, spreading outflows across at least 10 Binance-bound deposits over several months. That approach allowed the holder to avoid flooding the market with supply at any single point, a pattern analysts have described as disciplined distribution.

A Broader Trend Among Early Holders

The sale is part of a wider pattern of long-dormant Bitcoin wallets coming back to life during the current market cycle. The Block reported that earlier in 2026, the same wallet had resumed selling after a pause, offloading 1,000 BTC worth roughly $71.6 million in a single session. Onchain monitoring platforms including Lookonchain and Arkham Intelligence have flagged numerous similar reactivations in recent months as Bitcoin has traded well above its prior cycle highs.

For market watchers, the completion of this exit removes a known source of potential supply overhang. With the full 5,000 BTC position now liquidated, the wallet no longer represents a near-term distribution risk.
