Kadena Stress-Tests Kinesis Bridge with Unprecedented White Hat Bounty

In reflection of its commitment to transparency and community involvement, Kadena has launched an unprecedented campaign to test the security of its Kinesis Bridge.

According to information shared with BSCN, leading layer-1 blockchain network, Kadena, is undertaking a unique initiative to stress test its ‘Kinesis Bridge’ ahead of its official launch later this month, on May 27, 2025.

Put simply, Kadena has launched its own white-hat challenge wherein participants are invited to try and exploit the bridge and make off with some 20,000 $KDA tokens that the project has deposited into it. Said 20,000 tokens are, at current market prices, worth approximately $13,000.

If any white hat hackers are successful in accessing and making off with the funds, the tokens are theirs…

“This is a first-of-its-kind security bounty for us. It’s part of a push toward transparent and battle-tested infra before the bridge’s official launch on May 27”, said a representative of Kadena.

What is Kadena’s Kinesis Bridge?

The Kinesis Bridge is one of Kadena’s key initiatives for furthering the network’s cross-chain interoperability and, thereby, the network’s ability to interact and collaborate with the wider cryptocurrency ecosystem.

The bridge itself is built on Hyperlane’s infrastructure and, at least to begin with, v1 allows participants to execute rapid transactions between Kadena and Ethereum, the world’s largest smart contract network. That said, a glance at Kinesis’ website teases additional chain support which will be added throughout the remainder of 2025, though there have currently been no explicit announcements as to which chains this expansion will involve.

Though built using Hyperlane’s rails, said infrastructure provides a high degree of customizability for developers - something Kadena has taken full advantage of in building a solution optimized for its tried and tested L1 network.

The bridge itself is now live and can be accessed by visiting Kinesis’ official website.

Kinesis’ White Hat Challenge: How It Works

The rules for the initiative are simple…

  • If someone drains the funds, they keep them.
  • If a participant finds a vulnerability and discloses it responsibly, the team will recognize their contribution.

However, Kadena has also teased a “surprise reward” for participants that take part, even if they are not able to exploit the platform directly. Exactly what this prize will be, however, is a matter of speculation for the time being.

Ultimately, the purpose of the challenge is two-fold…

On the one hand, it should serve a straightforward purpose of rigorously testing Kinesis’ technology and its security under pressure, prior to launch. On the other hand, the initiative reflects a wider commitment from Kadena’s team to embrace the transparency and open-nature of the blockchain industry itself.

This is something that will become all the more crucial as Kadena’s updates continue to emerge throughout 2025…

Kadena’s Future

The full rollout of its Kinesis Bridge on May 27 is not even the most exciting launch that the Kadena community is expecting in the coming weeks and months.

At the core of Kadena’s roadmap and vision is its Chainweb EVM testnet launch, currently pencilled for some time in Summer 2025, confirmed by the project’s founder in a recent live interview with BSCN.

Chainweb EVM is especially exciting for both the project and its community. As the name implies, Chainweb EVM will see Kadena’s scalable infrastructure combined with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and Solidity’s massive developer pool.

Away from ease-of-development, Chainweb EVM is expected to deliver near-zero gas fees for users, as well as near infinite throughput, facilitated by Kadena’s native parallelized architecture.

With so many major launches on the horizon, one thing is certain… 2025 is going to be anything but boring for Kadena and its community.
