Google is partnering with Coinbase to enable crypto payments for cloud services and to offer institutional crypto services, serving the Web3 ecosystem.
On Tuesday, Google Cloud announced a strategic partnership with crypto exchange Coinbase at Google's Cloud Next conference. The tech giant will start accepting crypto payments for cloud services early next year via integration with Coinbase Commerce.
Google will also use Coinbase Prime for institutional crypto services, like secure custody and reporting. The collaboration is intended to serve the growing Web3 ecosystem and its developers. It involves Coinbase leveraging Google Cloud and Google's premium fiber-optic network to build advanced exchange and data services.
"With more than 100 million verified users and 14,500 institutional clients, Coinbase has spent more than a decade building industry-leading products on top of blockchain technology. We could not ask for a better partner to help execute our vision of building a trusted bridge into the Web3 ecosystem," said Brian Armstrong, Co-Founder and CEO of Coinbase.
Coinbase users will get access to machine learning-driven crypto insights, while Web3 developers can access Google's BigQuery crypto public datasets, which will be powered by Coinbase Cloud Nodes across major blockchains.
The tech giant has been adding to its crypto features and services, for example with its partnership with BNB Chain and the Ethereum wallet balance feature.
