Ripple Cto Says Satoshi Bitcoin Keys Likely Lost Forever
Ripple CTO David Schwartz (@JoelKatz) said the private keys to Satoshi Nakamoto’s Bitcoin $BTC fortune are likely gone.
The estimated holdings are worth around $70 billion.
He suggested the coins may remain permanently inaccessible.
The view reinforces long-standing speculation about dormant BTC. Lost keys would remove a massive supply from circulation.
This comes after Investigative journalist John Carreyrou identified Adam Back as Satoshi Nakamoto. The conclusion follows an 18 month investigation.
However, no definitive proof has been presented. The identity of Satoshi remains unconfirmed.
