The Axie Infinity team has been hard at work planning for the AxieCon event even during the pandemic. All roads lead to Barcelona.

Andrew “Zyori” Campbell, program lead for eSports at the popular PlayAndEarn blockchain game, Axie Infinity, said that AxieCon is a culminating event to gather their global residents of their digital nation.

The former Dota 2 personality is part of the team that is overseeing the global event for Lunacians. Various Axie Infinity community meetups have occurred in different countries, but the community has never had an event of this scale happen in real life.

“We’ve been planning the event since the end of the last year when COVID had the world shut down,” Zyori told BSCNews. “It was a scary time to commit to an event like AxieCon, but we were confident it would be an important part of empowering our most hardcore contributors. It seemed only natural to up the ante and do something larger with more programming. AxieCon is the culmination of our work to gather our global community together.”

AxieCon kicks off with a registration party at the Go Beach Club on Sept. 7 from 12 noon to 6 p.m. Doors open at 10:15 a.m. the following day to welcome everyone to the convention. Sept. 8 focuses on everything Axie Infinity with talks centered around the game, future developments, and the community. Various Sky Mavis officials will be presenting about their area of expertise concerning the Axie ecosystem, like LiveOps, Land Gameplay, and the Marketplace. Day Two ends with either a double-decker bus experience or a walking tour with tapas.

“AxieCon will be an incredible experience for those in attendance, as it will be one of the largest gatherings of Sky Mavis team members in one location in history. Attendees will be able to meet Axie Infinity leaders and share their perspectives with the people that have influence in our ecosystem,” Campbell said.

Day Three continues to put the spotlight on the community and Axie Infinity’s social impact on both the Philippines and Latin America. There will also be various talks about building tools, content creation, and basic Web3 and NFT topics as well. Day Three ends with a VIP & Mystic Holders party at the Sea Garden.

The final day starts with various ways to earn in the metaverse and in the Axie Infinity marketplace, before the focus turns to eSports. The highlight is the final round of each Axie tournament, with over $1 million in total prizes up for grabs. The event ends with a party at Fira de Barcelona Hall 2.

“This AxieCon also marks a new era for Axie Esports, as we have $1 million in total prizes between Axie Origin and Axie Classic. Our Esports engine is now finding legs and is preparing for takeoff,” Campbell explained. “For those that aren’t able to make it to Barcelona, we will be broadcasting everything on the MainStage of AxieCon on our Twitch channel.”
