Selected projects must be useful to the Pi ecosystem, integrate $Pi, and be user-friendly, with winners receiving Pi cryptocurrency tokens.
Pi Network has officially kickstarted the monthly hackathon campaign. Developers can start submitting their applications on the Pi Browser application for Pioneers to review.
As BSC News reported in May, the core team disclosed its plans to launch a monthly hackathon starting in June. Following the successful Q1 campaign, which produced nine winners and several innovative submissions, the platform allows developers to submit applications regularly with the latest hackathon.
According to the Pi Network blog, applications that will be selected must be useful to the Pi ecosystem, have a genuine use-case for Pioneers, integrate $Pi, and be user-friendly. Further, the winning project will be rewarded with Pi coins, and the price amount will be announced as the campaign progresses in June.
“The winning project each month will win a grand prize of Pi cryptocurrency tokens! This prize amount will be announced during the inaugural June iteration of the #PiHackahton, so stay tuned for this announcement,” Pi Network wrote.
Developers participating in the June hackathon will also benefit from different perks, including the opportunity to recieve support from the Pi Core Team, eligibility to be listed for visibility on the Pi testnet ecosystem, and the licenses to compete in subsequent hackathons with improved applications.
The ongoing Pi Hackathon facilitates the development of the Pi Network ecosystem, providing Pioneers with unique Decentralized Applications (dApps) while rewarding developers. Now that the campaign will be repeated every month, developers will have more time to work on their submissions, creating more room for Pi utilities in the Decentralized Finance (DeFi) space.

Pi Network is a mobile mining blockchain with an application that lets people earn Pi coins by doing simple tasks on their phones. However, the project remains in its development stage with delivery of an open mainnet still a matter of speculation, with no launch date confirmed.
With this in mind, the protocol remains in its testnet stage and will apparently go live when many users (Pioneers) complete the mandatory KYC procedure while the core team works on developing its ecosystem.
Pi Network is also reported to be under investigation by authorities in Vietnam and users should exercise a high degree of caution when interacting with the project and ensure they have conducted sufficient research before doing so.
