The latest move from Crypto.com comes after cutting 260 employees to ensure long-term growth amidst the ongoing crypto winter.
The world's leading cryptocurrency exchange, Crypto.com, has officially parted ways with its Global head of NFT.
The latest update was quite a surprise move because Joe Conyers III was the one who laid the groundwork that helped the exchange's NFT market to flourish since he joined Crypto.com in March 2021. However, according to some anonymous sources involved in this matter, it has been revealed that the reason behind the split between Joe Conyers III and Crypto.com comes from the fact that NFT has been identified as one of the company's highest priorities for restructuring in the current market.
However, some members of the Crypto.com community expressed joy at this news on Twitter.
“I usually prefer to give critical feedback in private, but this guy going is a good thing... just because he got lucky with cryptopunk and BAYC doesn't mean he understands NFTs - hopefully, this will allow guys who are directly working with the community to step up,” one user shared through Twitter.
Finally, to avoid misleading the company's predicament, the source further stated that this move by Crypto.com is simply a restructuring to improve the efficiency and quality of the exchange, not related to downsizing the operation. However, according to Joe Conyers’ Linkedin profile, he is still the Global Head of NFTs at Crypto.com.
Crypto.com is a Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange. Currently, their app has 10 million users and 4,000 employees. Bobby Bao, Gary Or, Kris Marszalek, and Rafael Melo founded the company "Monaco" in 2016. Following the purchase of a domain owned by cryptography researcher and professor Matt Blaze, the company was renamed Crypto.com in 2018. The domain was valued at between $5 and $10 million by domain sellers.
Foris DAX Asia, a Singapore-based subsidiary of Foris DAX MT (Malta) Limited, operates Crypto.com. Crypto.com has notable sponsorship agreements with Formula One, Serie A, the UFC, Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Montreal Canadiens, and Water.org.
Water.org's collaboration included signing its co-founder, actor Matt Damon, as Crypto.com's brand ambassador. The vision of Crypto.com is to accelerate the world's transition to cryptocurrency by putting cryptocurrency in every wallet.
