Binance Research has published a comprehensive review of the crypto space in 2022, covering all areas of the sector, from layer-1 performance to GameFi to regulations. Additionally, the authors shared a list of themes they are “actively monitoring” in 2023.

The Binance Research Twitter account shared some highlights of the 120-page report in a thread on Jan. 12:

On Jan. 17, Binance Research posted a second thread on the themes for 2023:

According to the report, those themes include:

Macroeconomics and the correlation between traditional and crypto markets
Integration of real-world assets with blockchain DeFi and NFT projects
Liquid staking and Ethereum’s upcoming Shanghai Upgrade
Utility for NFTs
Improvements in blockchain gameplay
Greater regulatory clarity.

The report concludes: “2022 served as a reality check for many in the crypto space. Challenging macro conditions, black swan events, and the implosion of notable companies brought to the fore the importance of factors such as fundamentals, valuations, and tokenomics, among others. That said, a bear market is the perfect time to BUIDL.”
