The foundation's focus is on driving engagement with the Aptos ecosystem and supporting its development, with an emphasis on public good services, infrastructure, and open-source development. The foundation has also opened its next wave of grant applications in April.
Aptos Foundation, a Cayman Islands-based organization that supports the growth and development of the Aptos protocol, has announced its first round of grant recipients.
BSC News has received a press release confirming that the foundation has awarded a total of $3.5 million in grants to 50 new project teams to continue scaling on the Aptos blockchain.
The grants were distributed across four categories: developer tooling, infrastructure, education, and ecosystem. Notable recipients in these categories include Mokshya and Pontem for developer tooling, Aries and KYCDao for infrastructure, Overmind and Aptos Eden for education, and Tsunami and Topaz for ecosystem development.
The Aptos Foundation is committed to driving engagement with the Aptos ecosystem and supporting the development of the Aptos protocol, decentralized network, and ecosystem. By empowering builders and creators to shape the network and bolster its public utility, the foundation aims to foster a collaborative, sustainable, and innovative environment for the success of Aptos and the broader web3 ecosystem.
Bashar Lazaar, who brings years of relevant business development experience from Consensys, will join the Aptos Foundation team as the Grants & Ecosystem Lead to spearhead the growth of the grant program moving forward.
According to Lazaar, "It’s fundamental that we continue cultivating strong relationships with our community of developers and entrepreneurs to foster a collaborative, sustainable, and innovative environment for the success of Aptos and the broader web3 ecosystem. We are excited to continue pushing the boundaries of the possible, hand in hand with our amazing network of builders."
In its initial focus, the Aptos Foundation prioritized public good services, infrastructure, and teams focused on open-source development. The foundation reviewed over 500 applications across a wide range of initiatives before selecting the 50 projects to receive grants. Criteria were based on the merit of the idea, potential value for the broader ecosystem, and the team’s ability to lead the undertaking to fruition.
The Aptos Foundation has opened its next wave of grant applications in April. For more information on how to apply for a grant, interested parties can visit https://aptosfoundation.org/grants.
Aptos is a new, independent project focused on delivering the safest and most production-ready Layer 1 blockchain in the world. The team includes the original creators, researchers, designers, and builders of Diem, the blockchain first built to serve this purpose.
