Strategy'S Strc Trading Volume Soars As Dividend Holds At 11.5%

Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) holds its STRC preferred stock dividend at 11.5% for a third consecutive month in May 2026, as trading volumes surge and the company proposes semi-monthly payments to stabilise the instrument near par.

Strategy'S Strc Trading Volume Soars As Dividend Holds At 11.5%

STRC Holds Steady at 11.5% for Third Straight Month

@MicroStrategy, now operating under the brand Strategy, has held the annualized dividend rate on its $STRC perpetual preferred stock at 11.5% for May 2026 — marking a third consecutive month at that dividend rate. Known internally as "Stretch," STRC is Strategy's perpetual preferred stock whose dividend rate is adjusted monthly to encourage trading around its $100 par value and to help strip away price volatility.

STRC's volume-weighted average price of $99.76 for April kept the dividend steady for the third consecutive month, with the stock currently trading at $99.75 and having remained marginally below par since April 15. STRC was first listed in July 2025 with a 9% annual dividend rate, and Strategy has gradually raised the rate to reduce price volatility and keep the shares near the $100 benchmark.

The instrument has grown rapidly in market significance. According to the original copy, STRC has expanded into a $6.4 billion notional instrument, with average daily liquidity of around $339 million — up roughly 10x in five months — as institutional interest has accelerated.

Semi-Monthly Payments and the Bitcoin Accumulation Machine

Strategy is also considering a shift to semi-monthly dividend payments for STRC, moving away from its current monthly distribution structure to further reduce volatility. Votes are now open for STRC shareholders on the semi-monthly dividends amendment. The company has positioned the move as a way to keep STRC trading even closer to its $100 par value.

STRC pays out monthly, yields about 11.5% on an annualized basis, and is engineered such that its price barely moves from its par of $100 per share — stitching together features of bonds, money market funds, and Bitcoin exposure without precisely being any of them.

Strategy has been using STRC to raise funds and deploying the proceeds to buy $BTC. CEO @michael_saylor remains publicly committed to the Bitcoin-backed yield model, despite ongoing criticism from sceptics who have warned of a potential "death spiral" if Bitcoin prices fall sharply. Strategy now holds 815,061 BTC, making STRC the central funding mechanism behind the company's ongoing accumulation strategy.

Meanwhile, MSTR common stock also showed signs of recovery, closing April at $165, up 33% — its first positive month in nine. Bitcoin also rose 12% in April, its best monthly performance since April 2025.
