Cardano Network Hits 4.6 Million Holders
On-chain data from Santiment shows Cardano's ADA network has reached 4.6 million holders, putting it in context against Bitcoin's near-160 million and XRP's 7.8 million.

@Cardano and its founder @IOHK_Charles have generated considerable attention throughout 2026, and the latest on-chain data adds another headline to the pile. According to figures from blockchain analytics firm Santiment, the $ADA network now counts 4.6 million holders — a metric that reflects growing participation across one of crypto's most established layer-1 blockchains.
Where Cardano Sits in the Broader Holder Landscape
The figure takes on additional meaning when placed alongside its peers. Santiment data shows $XRP with 7.8 million users and $ADA with 4.6 million, while $BTC's network is approaching 160 million — underscoring the significant gap that still exists between Bitcoin and the wider altcoin field.
Cardano's holder count trails @Ripple's $XRP by a notable margin, though the gap between the two is tighter than either's distance from Bitcoin. For context, Santiment data shows Ethereum leading the crypto ecosystem with 190 million users, marking a significant milestone in the mainstream adoption of blockchain technology.
On-Chain Activity Points to Sustained Engagement
The holder milestone arrives alongside a broader picture of continued network activity on Cardano. The Cardano network processed over 4 billion ADA in transactions over five days, culminating in $1 billion in on-chain volume. Separately, Cardano's number of wallets holding at least 10 million $ADA tokens reached a four-month high of 424, a 5.2% rise in nine weeks, even as the token had yet to decouple from other altcoins in 2026.
An earlier report from Santiment shows that ADA investors remain heavily bullish, with around 79% of all $ADA holders continuing to expect the cryptocurrency's price to move upward — even as many remain underwater from higher entry points.
On the development side, in the week ending 27 March 2026, developers pushed 510 commits across 77 repositories, with the most active projects being Mithril and core components like cardano-ledger and cardano-cli. The network also saw its Midnight mainnet — a privacy-focused partner chain — go live in March 2026, enabling confidential smart contracts and data protection.
Whether the 4.6 million holder count translates into price momentum for $ADA remains to be seen. But as a measure of network reach, the figure marks a concrete step in Cardano's long-term adoption story — even as it continues to trail the largest networks in the space by a wide margin.
